maybe @Roostfactor could do a temp test with and without to see how valuable they really are.

Definitely! I think it’s great in the winter without. Summer not so much. But I always use distilled water in the summer. A test of distilled water vs coolant for our innercoolers would be good too.

I got both. I wasn’t against the pillar pods at all, I love the look and the area is too functional not to put those gauges. The flex pod is great as well. I do have my column tilted a bit up and it doesn’t bother anything. It also doesn’t hamper the wheel while turning in anyway.

I have thought about this. Maybe it would be a good idea to test before the water/meth kit goes on.
I just need to buy a spare gasket. I dont know if I would use it (depending on results) but want it available immediately if it shows it keeps temps significantly lower.

Correct. Right into the intake valve ports. So when the obstruction first happened the truck lost power and idled like shit.
Possibly between ecu limp mode?, engine shutdown and restart, the gasket got "processed" by the engine and it magically runs perfect again.
Just a theory and by no means am I saying this is probable cause but I like where Jesse's head was at with this.

I think someone did it before but I could be mistaken. Should be able to buy some new adapters or hoses. I got coupler hoses here before - http://www.siliconeintakes.com/diy-cold-air-intake-a-largest_fountain_shipper.html

Maybe something like this inside the airbox to attach to? http://www.allpurposepipes.com/exha...bo-intake-aluminum-velocity-stack-p-9522.html

Any local guys to Anaheim /So cal that would have a URD snout cutter and pulley install tool that could help out? Planning to go the 2.7 route and would rather not drop money on tools that I'll only use once.

People we as a community have a problem on our hands and need to fight it. Vehicles needing premium fuel are being discriminated against because we are trying to make our engines more efficient by adding boost. I remember not too long ago when the price gap between 87-89-91 was only 5 cents per jump. Then a few years ago 10cents per jump became the norm. Now more recently I’m seeing 20cents as the common norm and this morning I filled up at 90 cents more than regular to get premium. Granted this was my fault and I could have searched for cheaper elsewhere, but this station is known as some of the cheapest fuel in town for regular. This is some horse shit discrimination against people trying to make their vehicles more efficient with a side effect of better performance.

    Rant over
First tank of “normal” driving since finishing up the engine cage and on 37’s and got 13.5mpg. Not bad and only about .5 less than before with 35’s and 80lbs less steel

I also saw a $0.90 cents per gallon difference between 87 and 93 octane in Georgia over the weekend.

It makes me think twice about adding my s/c... :(

Are you referring to the ports in the plate (where the oil pressure sender is)? If so, they are 1/8" NPT, not metric.

Actually, the oil filter thread is not metric either - IIRC, it is 3/4 - 16.

Yeah that was a little ridiculous. It’s not my dd so not the end of the world for me, but also, having a non boosted Tacoma before this one I’d never go back

    I get that. :)

However, this is my DD, and I drive a lot. But, I do tow trailers, so the additional power would be welcomed.
