Apologies for thread resurrection, but audio noob here! Have a general question about bass knobs. Are they specific to the sub you get? For instance do I have to use the one that comes with the powered sub I’m planning to try? It is a clunky bulky one and I was wondering if a smaller one such as this would work with a different product and be compatible.
For my 2008 non-JBL Double Cab TRD-Sport I’m considering the
    Rockford Fosgate P300-8P
Punch Series compact 300-watt powered 8" subwoofer

Most of them are pretty specific and need to stick together. however, you can almost always take the big u got plastic housing off and then mount the little pcb board and knob in a blank switch, or wherever else you want

    I am in tuscaloosa, yes!

I've only been back in the car stereo shop for a little over 2 years now. I did home theater installs before this, and appliance installs before than. then a handful of years on the sales floor.

Where would you mount guys something like this ? It’s a Rockford fosgate powered sub bass knob and I’m getting it installed at a local shop. Not sure what to tell them but i sure don’t want this big thing sticking out ! And can u somehow take off the big casing and mount it in a knob or blank port location ? I want just the knob like showing

typically you can take the housing off. occasionally, the pcb board is quite large and you have to get a bit creative

Guys I located both of mine inside of the center console, on the inside wall of it running the wire through it and it's super out of the way. I also mounted it with velcro.

My vote has always been to relocate to the button blanks. Less invasive and always looks the best.
