2018 TRD or lights

Hello,
so when I was standing by my truck this morning (doors were all shut and locked) after a minute the lights came on. Is this like a feature if you’re close by with the keys this happens? I’ve never seen it before. Then I walked away and came back and they did it again? I’m talking about the interior lights. So I opened and turned the switch to off cause I didn’t want my battery to die Incase It did it throughout the work day?

If you have the key fob with you yes it is normal.

 

Yes normal, my 20 OR does it. Our Subaru and F350 too, except those have mirror lights that also light up the ground outside as you walk up.

 

Ok and it’ll turn off as I walk away? I don’t need to worry about my battery?

I've left my dome/map lights on accidentally before and the truck turned it off automatically as well. You shouldn't have to worry!

 

Your key fob emits a small radio wave (I believe it's within 4 feet or so of the driver's door) that turns the interior dome and map lights on, as well as granting access to lock and unlock the door. For this to work, the light setting does have to be set to the opening of the doors, of course.

 

Another weird thing is that, while sitting in my living room and open Apple Maps on my phone, it tells me that my truck is parked twenty feet away on the curb. Good to know.
