I'm flying to SLC UT, to pick up a new Tacoma and driving back to CA over the weekend. Flying in Friday night, picking up the truck Sat morning, then the wife and I are spending the night in Zion, but I'll have a whole day to get there. The wife is prego, so it can't be too crazy, plus I'm pretty new to off roading and won't have all the proper equipment.

Does anyone know of any decent trails that will be fun, but won't make my wife kill me? I've read some stuff about south Zion, but I think some of them are pretty gnarly. I'd settle even for some plain old dirt roads or whatever. Anyways, any advice or suggestions would be great. So excited to break this puppy in!!

SLC via SR 89 at Thistle Junction.....turn east on SR 31....hit SR 10...head south on SR 10 to 70

Then take SR 72 to Loa.....turn east on SR 24...then south on 12 @ Torrey to Bryce Canyon

get back on SR 89 ..on to Zion.....this is all day.......

The Loop at Boulder to Hells Backbone then Escalante is awesome too....

You may wanna stay in Utah.................

Plenty of dirt roads out by Topaz Mountain that range from easy gravel roads to however hard you want. Anything at high elevation might be snowed in right now.

There’s a pretty good dirt/gravel road that takes you close to Delano Peak that splits off I-15 in Beaver. Probably won’t be able to make it all the way to the top this time of year though.

Frisco is an old mining ghost town west of Beaver that has quite a few easy dirt roads leading to mines. Frisco is also south of Topaz so it would make a decent loop route.

Yeah I love Utah. I've been there a decent bit. Was planning a cross country motorcycle trip a few years back and ended up just cruising through UT and Colorado for the entire time. Haha.
Those both sound awesome. I'l have to do a little homework. Really wish I had more time to plan and more time to spend in UT. @Gunshot-6A also mentioned he was gonna check out Toquerville Falls on Sunday. Would have to decide if I have the balls to take a brand new truck off roading, but I like the idea of having an experienced person with me.

Burr Trail is a great offshoot. Even if you just got out to the switchbacks east of Boulder. Stop at the outpost for coffee and the brownies, you wont be disappointed.

We ended up getting a super late start and had to skip most of the drive. We still stayed at Zion and cruises through Valley Of Fire on the way back. It was pretty amazing. I wish we had more time, the route you gave us seemed awesome.
Also @Gunshot-6A offered to take me to Toquerville Falls which was super awesome of him. I think we will make it back out when we have more time. Still was a super fun trip to pick up my new truck!! Mustache is for Movember, just putting that out there.
