oh boy where do I begin, haha. For starters, it's not a trail..it's just an enclosed area (not even all that big) full of gravel sand, a few small hills and a giant mud pit. You don't really 'explore' at Azusa, you just romp around an enclosed area and try not to get run over by all the dudes in monster Jeeps and full size domestic trucks on 40+ in super swampers. It's always packed on weekends, people set up tailgating parties all over the place.
I've been there a few times and never stayed longer than 30 minutes before it just gets boring and I'm ready to leave. I like trails that go places, go out into more remote areas, have some level of technical difficulty, etc. It's just not my cup of tea really.

Gotcha. My dad always talked about how great it was. But I like exploring and experiencing new places/trails. If I am going to make a 3 hour trip I want to enjoy the place at least for a whole day.

I can see how some people might like it but you definitely have to understand what kind of OHV park it is and if it's for you or not.

There are so many other trails and OHV parks out this way that are far better...if you're new to the hobby and getting your feet wet, I would suggest going a little further north to Rowher OHV. It's a WAY bigger OHV area and actually has a variety of genuine trails to do, and they all go on for miles and pretty deep into the state forest area. The Rowher 4x4 trail and especially the Lookout Out trail are actual technical rated 4x4 trails with some good obstacles. There's also a more 2wd friendly fire road that goes through the same area.

Also even further north still is the Gorman OHV park...I would put that one in between Azusa and Rowher. Gorman is more for the 'go-fast' type of off-roader, it's got miles and miles of open dirt roads that bikers and quads really enjoy, but trucks too. Also a couple smaller technical trails out there.

I have thought that if you can get there during the week it wouldn't be so bad if you had the place mostly to yourself. But if I'm being honest, it's the other people there that usually gets me the most irritated the few times I went. A lot of trash on the ground, people and kids running around in the area where trucks are driving. There wasn't much of a feeling of offroad/trail etiquette amongst the groups and it seems to be more for the crowd that enjoys blasting through and getting stuck in mud pits. I hate mud with a passion lol.

Yeah there's zero etiquette in Azusa. I think they are closed during the week no? Haha I dont mind mud, but I really don't want to get stuck in it, and it takes forever to clean. I've only been there a few times and that was only because it was spur of the moment since its closeby

yeah it might actually be closed during the week, that would make sense considering it's got limited weekend hours and controlled by the Forest Service during those hours.
I've only ever gone to it too for the same reason, close proximity. It's about 30 minutes from my house to the entrance. I'm looking forward to running the Rincon Truck Trail soon though since finding out it is accessible. Even if it's just an easy 2wd trail, it's nice to have something close by that you can get out of the house to go and do without making it a full day long commitment.

Oh yeah. The rincon is nice, you'll enjoy it. When I ran it my buddy got a flat on his 4runner, and we had to ditch it and drive down the mountain to pick up a spare for him to get back down (we couldnt get his spare off lol). So convenient having something so close by.

Gorman will probably have snow and be cold as a witches mammary too...

Yeah it likely will but there really isn't anywhere we can go this weekend that won't be cold... my dad is less opposed to it now that he has a heater for his tent though. But the snow factor might force us to do Rowher instead

Gonna put it up for sale, you interested? I'll give you first dibs on the Budbilt IFS and trans skids. My SkidRow tcase skid is spoken for as of right now.

The IFS skid is a little bent to one side but still mounts up just fine and does its job as intended. I've run it for a few years now. I'd let it go for fairly cheap since it's well used. It's saved my bacon more than once.

That'd be fun, I haven't done Rowher or Drinkwater Flats in a long time. Last time I did Drinkwater was almost a year ago when I destroyed my fender on the gatekeeper lol.
