First, I'll start with I don't believe the pricing on the Cybertruck until it actually happens. Second, basing any opinion on initial sales is misleading. If something that didn't previously exist comes into existence that had underlying demand, no doubt it will sell well initially. Will it continue once the demand is met? No. And who knows what the demand is. Sort of how the Model 3 is outselling BMW or whatever. I would expect that initially. I don't know if it continues and I can't draw any conclusions that it will yet. Same with the Cybertruck. I'm not bashing anything, but I'm also not going to get all excited without data and it annoys me when others bend data to prove their point.

I do think more people are coming around to EVs though. I am some, but not entirely. At the current moment, there are pluses and minuses. Never going to a gas station again sounds phenomenal. Sitting at a charging station sounds like ass. For everyday travel to work and running errands, no issue really.

I look at it like if I make one of my semi-annual trips to Colorado (9 hour drive), I'll have to stop at least once to charge and probably could eat at the same time. I better plan it that way. But what do I do when I get to my destination? Can I charge at my friends house or an AirBnb? Sure, I bet a charging station is somewhere in the city too, but do I want to plan another 30 minutes to hang out there? Not really. It will take more planning and compromises.

Its quite the shift from the past 22 years of driving life. It can be done, but honestly I'd rather have a hybrid truck for now.

Does banging your shins on the 33's count as rubbing?

The current Tesla batteries are designed to last 300,000 to 500,000 miles. The next generation drive units and batteries will be designed to last 1,000,000 miles. The Cybertruck drive units will be from the Model 3, we’ll see if the next generation batteries will be engineered and validated in time for the truck. From Electrek...

Tesla says that the Model 3 drive system is designed and validated for over one million miles of range.

Today, the automaker released impressive pictures of Model 3 drive units after testing, which Elon Musk says “drove 1M miles”.

We reported just last week that the Tesla Semi is clearing a path for the company’s goal of a one million-mile electric drivetrain.

The electric truck is using Model 3 drive units and it’s putting them to the test through long distance driving and pulling of heavy loads.

In 2015, Musk said that they “want drive units that just never wear out”, resulting in Tesla changing their aim to one million miles in their endurance tests.

“We are very happy with the quality of the drive unit. We changed the goal of the drive unit endurance from being approximately 200,000 miles to being a million miles – just basically we want drive units that just never wear out. That’s our goal. I think we made really good progress in that direction. the drive unit that are going out now and for the last several months have been excellent.”

Now, Tesla released pictures of some Model 3 drive unit gears after testing:
