ya the car is in 'well loved' condition of 23 years, got it as a high mileage dealer deal car in late 1996 and abused it in the city stop and go traffic
the heater works like a dream still, unlike the 79 Corolla hatch i once had and needed to dump when the brakes went bad at 25 years old (had it for about 12) and no working heat or defrost , it was the best winter pizza delivery car complete with RWD and no power steering haha
the fuel leak i found its part of the actual fuel tank that the overflow tube/vent (or whatever it is) that connects by rubber hose to filler tube. its about a qTip size hole way up there on the top... gonna try and see if a JB weld can patch it up for a few years until something real major goes bad engine/transmission
it has had extensive repair work done over the past 5 years that i have not yet gotten adequate miles out of. exhaust, brake lines, suspension, tires
rear seats have to be removed i think to take out the fuel tank, but nothing else seems to leak on the output side, fuel pump is ok still

i had been looking at the new Corolla hatchback for a little sporty type looking car with fuel efficiencies but the color choices coupled with the MT availability are a bit difficult to find it seems!
and then there is the 'probably' expected cash outlays on my old Tacoma in the next 1 - 2 years that i have to figure in to handle new car payments

AWD is CVT only, I believe. The FWD 1.2 turbo is manual.

That’s about what I get. Poor overdrive ratio and a chronic inability to stay off the throttle.

We should check what I get when I drive on our next vacation. I bet I get 20 ;)

Idk how long you've been checking it, but if it's only recent the wind could be impacting it I'm sure. I told you I got shit miles in the Corolla on the way to OP last week

I was just curious, I figured it would be bad, but not that bad lol. Though I have little frame of reference. I think I averaged 18-20 on my texas trip.
