What if I welded a plate off the front of the control arm for a airbump? I think I could mount an airbump there

You could. I was just worried that the stock lower would need alot of beefing up to support an airbump also. At minimum I would wrap the pivots with plate.

At that point it seems like it be would just make more sense to go long travel. I noticed that total chaos sells different front shocks hoops depending on if your long travel or not, did you have to change yours or could you adapt them?

exactly that was what finally made me decide to go long travel.

I had to change the shock mount but retained the original hoop.

I really respect that you still run the 5 speed, it seems like most people who have crazy prerunners run automatics. I love grabbing gears off-road and with the blower that’s gotta be a fun ride, but is it as smooth as a quad?

I love the 5 speed but there are really some durability issues. I go through a transmission every year or two. It always breaks 3rd gear. I need to spend less time in the whoop sections that seems to be the killer.

Its a fun truck. It is different than a quad but very fun in the dunes. I probably drive similar to how I ride but you still have to be more selective in the truck. You can't just jump off drop off's and watch for G outs the quad would eat up.

I wonder if there’s is a way to mount it more solid, how much does your shifter move while your in the whoops. I’ve been thinking that with the front range off-road t case crossmember, a solid trans mount, and a beefier engine mount setup you might be able to shift easier over rough terrain, and should help durability.

So I was prepping the truck to hit the dunes this weekend. I decided to weigh a wheel and tire. I attribute breaking so much to how heavy the wheels and tires are and the traction they get.

So after alot of broken rear end parts and a bent housing this should fix the problem.

No its really just beefier than stock. I have never had a driveshaft long enough to know if it would be more corrosion resistant.

Thnaks man. Every build has to start somewhere. Looking back I wish I would have done alot different, but its commited to the way it is now. I plan to start a new build soon that should be my ideal build now.
