bought a 2002 2.7l 2wd with 217,000miles, the original owner had it for 15years and put 205,000 on it (all service was done by dealer if that matters). I just need some peace of mind and want to see what people are getting out of theirs? truck runs great and has no issues, it was very well taken care of. what's your mileage? or the most you've seen on another thread?

My cousin worked at a ntb and said a guy had a 2nd gen 2.7 5 lug that he used as a courier type truck and would come in about once a month to get the oil changed about once a month that had over 500k miles on it. My 2.7 has 180k had to change a valve cover gasket because of a small leak and the coolant pipe that is a common problem for leaking on 2nd gens and some u joints. Everything else I've done is just regular maintenance.

I'm at 203k in a 98 2.4 2wd. Doesn't burn a drop of oil. Keep up with your maintenance and it'll be running for many more years to come.

    Oil leaks
I have 340k on mine. It's starting to leak oil but it's mechanically sound. I do get an occasional puff of smoke but my truck lived a rough life before I got it.

I've replaced a headgasket and rebuilt the head. Right now I'm working on getting a spare engine rebuilt, only for piece of mine and to get rid of all the oil leaks.

I bought my 98' almost 4 years ago with 262k on it. It just made its way up to Alaska from living all its life in Washington when I picked it up from a private owner.
My 1st Toyota at 52 yrs old and sold a 95' jeep Cherokee my Wife bought new for it to replace with only 104k on the odometer. I really wanted a little truck so I didn't have to use my dually f350 everytime I had a need for a pickup bed and had an eye for the older Yotas.
They are really hard to find up here and command a bit of change when you do, took me a while to get the jump on one.
I've never had a vehicle with over 120k miles and couldn't believe I was going to look at a truck with 262k miles on it but man is that little truck tight...no leaks...no oil loss and runs like a champ, well this week developed a slight hesitation accelerating out of 2nd so getting some MAF cleaner today.
I now have 283k on it and love it so much I have a pile of new OME goodies sitting in the corner of the garage for it. I'm on the look for a spare 2.7 to rebuild and park on an engine stand waiting for the day it may be needed to swap but that may be a really long time. Body and frame is solid and I spent 900 bucks having the 60/40 bench seat rebuilt and apholstried a couple years ago. I plan to take it to a friend's shop, take the DA sander to it and give it a new coat of paint to its dent free rust free body just cause I like her that much.
Everytime the Wife and I go somewhere in it together I'm telling her "I love this little friggen thing!"

I had 2 tacos with 2.7 first one had over 300k on it before I sold it still ran perfect. Was wanting a 4x4 so next one had 100k on it before I sold out because I could not do gears any more because of motor cycle injury. Best advice I can give you is stick with OEM Parts’!

195k on my 1998 2.7 manual. Bought it at 137, replaced the suspension at 165k, solid driveline built and axels replaced at 175k, motor and clutch replaced at 180k. Rolled it at 190k, just finished the cab swap and flatbed, and i have 195k on it. Id love to see a million.

My dad had an '86 4 banger fourruner that had over 350 when he sold it a 10 years ago. I saw it a couple years ago and it had over 500k.

I have 150k on my 2.7 manual - why do you think you need a motor at 175K - previous owner didn't change the oil ? Just wondering - I don't want to have to get a motor in 25k and I've read about 2.7's that have gone a lot further. Any reply appreciated.

Purchased my 2013 access cab 3 yrs 4 months ago with 89k on it. As of today it has 174k on it. Steady diet of Mobil1 oil & Champion synthetic filter every 6500-7000mi. I replaced original plugs at 100k. Added an aFe dry filter and removed charcoal filter along with all inner fender air baffle crap. No leaks, drips, smoke...nothing. Solid little 4-banger.

For my use, I think this 2.7l w/5MT produces adequate power, although regearing would make better use of it. I am running 235-75-15 tires right now. Will be switching out to 245-70-16 here soon, so I fully expect performance to diminish a bit more.

My truck has 475,000 on it now. The original 2.7 had 330,000 on it before I had any problems. It still had the original water pump, fuel pump, alternator, and starter on it. I decided to put a motor in it from a place out of Colorado Springs and it barely made 100,000 before I started having issues. I got 140,000 out of it but now its time for another. Trying to find a good gently used Toyota motor.
