Thanks for the suggestions. I hadn't seen the 4xInnovations rear bolt-on bumper yet, that looks interesting. Steel, yes - but since it incorporates a hitch (which I'd like to keep), it may not weigh all that much more than the factory flimsy bumper and steel hitch assembly. I'll see if I can find a weight listing on that, it's not on their site.

The BAMF hybrid is an interesting concept but still too heavy for me. If they did aluminum for us non-winch users...

I did see the SOS version but they are really far away from the Four Corners (shipping!), and I just can't get over the slanted headlight hoop look... I know, stupid of me to care. :)

CBI - think I saw that, I'll have to look again and see why I didn't consider more seriously.

@demello - thanks for answering so quickly, that's great to hear! I would love to see photos of a full-hoop, 2nd gen, aluminum version.

And yes, have definitely seen that bumper photo thread. Thanks for posting the link though.

    Appreciate all the replies!

I had no idea that All Pro was in the doghouse! My truck already had their front skids and leaf springs installed when I bought it. So, last black cyber whatever, I bought the expo leaf springs and t-case skid from them as well. I guess this is when they were transitioning to new ownership, I had never heard of Trail Gear but that's where I went to pick it up. Overall a great experience!

I haven't seen their bumpers but I'm super happy with the skids and springs. Their transmission skid is kinda flimsy but it's small and recessed above the others, so it still looks nicely painted. The front and t-case skids are scraped to hell now from a summer of abuse, but are holding up just fine, and I can use either as a jacking point. But then again I'm not a serious off-roader, I'm just really bad at parallel parking at the shopping mall.

In all seriousness though if you are wanting protection, I think you want a steel bumper in front.

It's the same as the steel version, the only difference is thicker material, which you won't see in the pictures. So these are how they look here. https://www.demello-offroad.com/2005-2011-tacoma-bumpers

I can't speak to their later customer service suck but I bought their dual swing out rear plate bumper and have had it for over 3 years now. Still in my opinion one of the best designed duals on the market and certainly has the most secure latching system and I haven't had any failures or QC issues in all of that time.

That said I would consider BAMF's upcoming high clearance dual as I am now committed enough to chop my bedsides.

@JDEMELLO Thanks so much for the help on this thread and your time on the phone the other day. Just pulled the trigger on your front bumper. Looking forward to it, thanks again!

I think that is a wise decision. One that will certainly make a lot of members jealous.
