TriNova Plastic & Trim Restorer

I just used this on my 08 to restore the black trim parts on the exterior.

If you're not using this stuff you're missing out.

Kind of pricey, but a little goes a long way.

I wasn't expecting big results, so I didn't take any before and after pics.

 

Well, so here's a pic.

We had a few storms this past week, so I went outside early this morning to wipe down my truck (never left the driveway this week) . I was unpleasantly surprised to find that the TriNova Restorer that I had applied has run/streaked down teh side of the truck at every location I applied it. The pic shows the runs right under the cap handle and down onto the paint. That was the best place I found to take the pic so you could see.

The trim all still looks great, but I was dissappointed to see the runs. It all wiped right off with a dry microfiber towel and din't leave any residue of stains.

I did put it on kind of heavy, so maybe this is user error.... We'll see.

 

Appears the product is a dressing, so it only sits on top of plastics. No different than Mothers Back to Black. You can try a a thinner layer but I would expect it to run some too.

 

I'm sure there's some truth to that, but it is labeled and sold as a restorer. I could see the product being absorbed into the plastic and rubber as it was being applied, and in a different way I've seen other products be absorbed.

I tend to use more that enough of most products, and when I saw this being sucked into the trim, I applied more trying to get an even appearance. So there was probably some laying on the surface that didn't get absorbed, and that accounted for the runoff.

I'll keep an eye on the duribility of this along with any future streaking and report back as I find it.

 

Whenever I use anything on my plastic trim. I go back after a few hours and buff it really well with a towel, helps that rain bleeding quite a bit. No matter whatyou use itll bleed

I went through this last week with Aerospace 303. I didn't buff the bumper trim very well and had streaks on the steel bar the next day when it rained.

 

Exactly why I quit using dressings on trim. Coatings don’t run and last much longer.

 

I'm a big fan of optimum tire coating. I hear Tuf Shine tire coating is solid too. I havent seen any trim coatings out there other than carpro. I like shine supply trim shield but that too needs a light buffing after application

 

Gtechniq C4 is the coating I have been using. Getting a year out of it easily, which I feel is pretty good since my truck lives outside 24/7.

 

How does it look on weathered trim. Most of my trim is still in gear shape and a deep black color. But my windshield cowl is starting to get gray and fade. I can add dressing. The shine supply trim shield worked the best to make it black again. I'm wanting to do a coating on it but afraid if I clean. It really well in prep for the coating It will be that faded gray look, and I'll seal that color in til the coating wears off.

 

I don’t have anything that faded but anytime I have used C4 it will darken the trim up. I need to get some more and try it on my dad’s car as the cowl looks grey now.

 

So after 3 months, the TriNova has finally run its course and the plastic trim is almost back to the faded condition I start with.

Not to shabby, and it's lasted longer than anything else I've used on the exterior trim, so I'll keep using it until the bottle is empty.

 

Thanks for the update! Did you continually get runs over time or was it just that first time early on? Also, did you use any of this on the rubber window trim, and if so, how was it?

 

The runs stopped after a few weeks. I did use it on the rubber window trim, and it worked really well. The thing I really likied about this product was that if you got it on the window glass or paint, it cleaned up easily with a damp microfiber.
