I am not familiar with the science behind this study, but I have to believe some of this comes from the kind of BMW owners who are not mostly DIY, and pay for everything the service advisor offers them as "recommended maintenance".

The N52, N54 engines are very, very reliable, easy to work on and vastly superior to anything from any manufacturer I would ever consider.

Again, I am only speaking of experience, bit these studies can have the conclusions say whatever.

The customer service used to be amazing, but then again so was Toyota's.

Things ebb and flow, one day we'll read an article how Toyota and Honda are just riding their legacy and no longer the most reliable.....oh wait, their are articles like that being written about Korean companies but I wouldn't know because fck that noise.

For now, I Like old Toyota's and BMW, and my Tacoma.

Have you seen the spike in price of the E46 M series?

It may have stabilized, but blew up a few months ago.

I think the idea of a 20yr old M for $8k that you could drive for 5 yrs and sell for $20+ was driving demand.

I've read from a YouTube comment that the hilux was better due to its fully boxed frame.

I was a BMWCCA member for years and pretty much tuned out after I sold my E30. IMO the only reason we're seeing a spike in older BMW prices is cheap money

You should have noticed immediately when you didn't see a roomful of septuagenarians drooling and napping.

Half of ex the Fast and Furious rejects on this forum who got into Tacomas after they couldn't afford to pay the insurance bills on the STIs (too many Cars and Coffee crashes) along with the "Overlanding" Poser crowd who spend thousands to make their trucks look like go-anywhere machines, then only drive them to Peets every morning and to their jobs at the Pottery Barn afterwards, coupled with those who constantly and generally kiss the taint of the Hilux without having ever driven or seen one in person, would lock this board down with non-stop complaints about it if it was ever offered for sale here.

I pray every day that Toyota will issue a diesel Tacoma so I can personally witness the complete and utter meltdown of the third gen forum. Most of the posters here - even the ones who constantly clamor for one - would need seriously and intensive therapy if they bought one.

Oh, yeah, Happy belated Thanksgiving to all.
