Vinyl wrapping chrome mirror caps

I’ve searched the forum, couldn’t find an answer. Also searched google like crazy.

I want to get rid of my chrome (hate chrome) and I’ve been looking for color matched vinyl to wrap the mirror caps. But I can’t find the exact match, just stuff close to it.

I considered painting, but that risk the job coming out like shit.

I also considered just ordering the red caps from Toyota, they want $170 for both.

Anyone have a link to the exact color match vinyl for the 2nd gen Barcelona Red?

 

You can buy toyota paint, just find your paint code and pait them. Probably the cheapest option and if done right will look just as good as new caps

 

I don't think there are color matched vinyls. I have seen touch up stickers meant to cover paint chips. Maybe you could see if you can get a couple larger pieces of that?

Have a local auto body & paint vocational school? Looks like a perfect afternoon project for a student learning how to prep & paint. They have instructors so the stuff they do usually turns out pretty good and the work is cheap.

You can get color matched rattle cans that make it as easy as spray paint, so it's actually pretty easy to get good results on something like that if you try to diy it.

Other than that, start looking on ebay and craigslist for used ones in the red (either separate or by way of a "parting out" ad).

 

I know it's not something you're asking for, but what about just going with black vinyl? Black for the side mirrors and door handles. Then install the bumper cover on the rear. Otherwise, my thinking is just pay for $170 and be done with the side mirrors knowing you have the quality you want. Just my thoughts.

 

yes there is a color close enough you could get it. go to a local vinyl shop and ask for 3m or avery wrap film colors that would match your red. i could help but i dont have a red truck or know of anyone with that color around me.

I swapped out the covers on mine for like 40 bucks. I realize it’s not the same gen, but you should be able to do the same.

Thought this thread died. But I ended up getting OEM red covers from toyota for like 70 bucks.

Damn! Appears Toyota no longer sells color matched mirrors/covers for the 05-11s. I considered just putting the 12-15 style on my 08, however, BSP color was not offered during those years.
