    I was at Alpine this AM, was more crowded than I've seen it before. Took an hour from Truckee to get there!

    The avalanche was at the base of the cliffs accessible by Scott chair, way up the hill from Subway. Didn't see it happen, but just as I pulled up to Scott Chair to take a ride they closed it. They brought in a helicopter pretty quick.

    I grew up at the base of a canyon in SoCal, and one storm clocked 80+ mph winds. The metal garages facing the canyon folded in on themselves.. pretty impressive.

    There were some big dust storms in Death Valley this weekend after the winds picked up.
