I worked there before we even had 2nd or 3rd gens so I cant answer that question as to what the official procedure is for book time on that job.
But what I can tell you is we would always find a better way to make up time, Its very easy to bend the sheet metal out of the way enough to get the bolt to clear on the way out, and once done you give it a whack with a dead blow plastic hammer and you would never know it was even bent. and bending it that small amount will not compromise the integrity of the sheetmetal there at all.

So DO NOT cut the bolt, just take a long prybar (4ft) and pry the metal away just a bit, (make sure to release the wires behind the sheetmetal or they can be pinched and damaged when prying.) That way it can come out as it went in.
I have changed well over 500 sets of UCAs like this and its not difficult at all. The passenger side is a bit tougher since the PS reinforcement sheetmetal plate makes it a tad harder to bend so you may have to work a bit harder to bend that side.

    Easy Peasy!

I think lifting the body could actually create more interference, as well as a ton more time Lifting the cab is a pain due to the mechanical fan hitting the shroud, the steering linkage, etc... I would highly recommend doing it as I mentioned in the above post. Its much easier to do and takes very little time once you get the hang of it.
Not hard at all. I see lots of threads where people make this job 10x harder than necessary because of bad or misinformed advice on the interwebz!

Ill PM ya. But yeah 35s tend to hit everything based on tire width and wheel offset when stuffed or turned to lock. With a 34" its a better choice for less hassle, but if thats what ya want, then...

How much do a re-gear from 4.3 to 5.29 with front and rear arb air lockers run, assuming I don't have the compressor installed either? Asking to prepare my wallet for next year :spending:

Ok didnt realize I was away from this thread for that long! Sheesh!! Sorry about that.
So one thing to consider, front lockers on these IFS trucks break axles, specifically the outer cages when pushed too hard, IE: when turned to lock and hitting the throttle putting too much torque on just one corner the cage can split (especially offshore cheap axles). However that being said it can still be very convenient if you know when to use it (ideally when not steering too far either direction under hard throttle).

If you are doing regear and locker on both axles anyway I'd recommend using the ECGS exchange program, you can order what ratio you want, they will build complete 3rd members ready to go with the Lockers already installed. I just did a pair a few weeks ago, and I can get them both done in a single long day so there is virtually no down time.
Afterward you simply send back your cores to them to get your core charge back and thats it!

Also pump type and placement as well as switches and location of said switches will vary cost.

Shoot me a PM and I can get you some estimates and as well help you figure out what options you may want, etc..

Ok Im back to work again everyone, I ended up fracturing my pelvis and got a huge hematoma on my left leg from crashing my motorcycle. It decided to eject me in 4th gear going pretty fast, I hit a angled square edge caused by the floods and it kicked the rear over so far I couldnt recover it!
I ended up braking my clutch cable earlier in the day but decided to go ride again anyway, that was a mistake...when the rear swaps on me I can usually pull in the clutch and stop the power to the rear wheel, well with no clutch thats not gonna happen!! So thats exactly what occured! I twisted the throttle to lift the front end to get over the angled ditch, hitting the rear wheel and got bucked sideways, pulled in my imaginary clutch and quickly realized it was a futile gesture once the bike swapped with the the tire spinning and all I remember after that was being ejected and looking down at my bike doing cartwheels as I was flying over it, being that it was nightime all I could see was my headlight spinning and waiting for impact..
By the time I stopped sliding after impact I was about 25 feet in front of the bike, at that time I had some good adrenaline so I didnt feel too hurt, rode back to camp and quickly realized I was hurt more than I thought. Also ended up losing my damn phone when I hit the deck!! Luckily I had some friends staying out longer and one of them found my little black Iphone in a ditch next to the crash site a day later.
So be careful on those motorcycles kids!!!
Im off crutches now and able to walk again so everything is going pretty well considering the situation.
I'm just walking a bit slower but I can still work so at least my upper body is uninjured and good to go, haha!

Just take care of the pelvic fracture and let it heal right. Take your time bud, no rush and still gotta be able to walk and squat when you're 80 years old.
