    Economics second semester junior year????

If it had the bad head gasket design, it wasn’t as good a truck as you think it was.

Definitely take your profit and move on. There are a ton of used Tacomas out there.

You'll find another truck to call your own. Move on from this one. Too many unknowns.

My girlfriend’s father towed my truck up the road bank, and we tried to get the spare on but didn’t have a solid base for the jack (muddy roads). A tow was covered by my deductible, so we didn’t move the truck any more that day. I didn’t start it, but the guys at my auto body shop told me it started right up Saturday morning when they went to move it.

The truck has never once been driven in the salty NY winters (previous owners were snowbirds) so the frame is in excellent shape. That’s probably the hardest part of letting it go. The buy back price is too much of a risk for me, especially with the potential time it would take to restore it to drive-able condition. A possible alternative is that I may have my buddy try to buy it back at the auction where it will end up, which I would imagine will be less than $4200.

I seriously doubt it will go for less than $4200 at auction. The wrecking yards bid stupid money for Tacos, because they know they can sell every single part off from them. Rebuilders bid stupid money for them because they know they can patch them back together and get $14K or more, even with a salvage title.

OP - sorry for your mishap but it happens I guess...Been driving 42 years in hilly western Pa. The first thing my father taught me was to (obviously) put the vehicle in park, apply the E brake and always cut and lock the steering wheel all the way to the left or right just in case it starts to roll - it won’t go very far. I’m sure you know all that...bummer
