Oh come on. Don't be thin skinned. You asked a question that has a brutally obvious answer for most "truck people". Not everyone knows this though....or you wouldn't have posted the question.

As the truck market continues to expand more and more non truck people join the fold with little to no understanding of the ins and outs of truck ownership. It's a trend I've certainly seen in the nearly 11 years I've been on this site.

So don't go. Between TW and your owner's manual there's lots of info to be had.

Correct me if I’m wrong, we all started someplace, I wasn’t born know the outside wheel turns further, hence differential in the axle housing.
Try to use 4 wheel drive only on dirt or other slick surfaces. Or else the drivetrain binds up, that’s what you’re feeling.

From the owners manual:

●For normal driving on dry and hard surface roads, use “2WD” position. Driving on dry and hard surface roads in “4H” or “4L” position may cause drive component oil leakage, seizure, or other problems resulting in an accident. Further, it may cause tire wear and increased fuel consumption.

●Avoid turning suddenly in “4H” or “4L” position. If you do turn suddenly, the difference in turning speeds between the front and rear wheels may have a similar effect to braking, thus making driving difficult.

The V6 also used the same Torsen centre differential as the V8, the main difference was that you could also put it into 2WD mode.

The 2003-09 4Runner V6 transfer case is one of the most fully functioned transfer cases Toyota has ever made. It can provide RWD, full-time 4WD, 50/50 locked part-time 4WD, with High and Low ranges. The V8 took that transfer case and dropped the RWD mode.
