I'v got Kelly Edge AT's on mine. Like them a lot. low noise, good dry and wet grip, work well on the beach and seem to be showing very little wear after 10k (mostly highway miles).

^^ regarding the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus, while not on my Tacoma, I have a set on on my Tahoe in P 265/70r17. They are great tires. I live in the Rockies where we see all types of weather, which they handle well. They are also DOT severe winter weather rated with the 3 peak mountain / snowflake symbol, which is critical here. What I like most (beyond the winter performance) is they look aggressive but are still quiet on the highway. Since I do mostly highway miles, that was important. Highly recommend. Check out user reviews on Tirerack, very highly rated all terrain tires.

I have run Michelin LTX M/S, Hankook Dynapro ATm, Cooper Discoverer AT3, Kumho AT51, all in the last three years on various trucks / SUVs. I would put the Pirellis at the top of the list. The Michelin is definitely a better all-around tire for most of my use, but they are a little plain looking - and yes, I care just enough about looks, otherwise I would run the Michelin Defenders most the time (except in heavy snow season). Call me shallow - but I didn't marry an ugly wife either...

I've dug deep in both TW and otherwise with conflicting results, but I've settled on gettign 265/75/R16s for my completely stock '12 TRD sport. I've read far too many posts that they work great so long as you have removed or trimmed your mudflaps. I'll report results back, hoping to snag them Friday.

I’ve pretty much settled on defenders moving forward. “Looks” are subjective. I happen to think the no-nonsense utility of the defenders is a rugged and practical look.

A lot of trucks that get used as trucks run Michelin’s for a reason.

I’m not about to compromise my stability, safety, and performance on the pavement for a “look” that offers debatable improvement off-road. Even avid off-road enthusiasts (that use their trucks for both on and off road purposes) are rarely utilizing the tires off-road more than 5% of the time, and in most cases it’s closer to 1% or 2% of the time.

Removed Predator Running boards. Removed front air dam. Installed Weathertech window visors and hood protector. Added vinyl color to engine cowl.
I can't explain what the look of an off road capable tire means to someone who advocates for the Defender. An all season tire (master of none) is going to be quite disappointing unless it's getting groceries on a warm, sunny day.

Inflammatory posts aren’t worth the time. They don’t add to the conversation and most folks worth talking to will see through it.

Agreed. If I didn't need the 3PMSF winter tire rating for deep snow, I would probably run the Defenders. The Pirellis fit the bill. The best solution, if one has room for storage, is to run dedicated winter tires, which is exactly what I do on two of my Audi Q5s. But I only have so much storage space, and the Tahoe with the Pirellis (or the Tacoma for that matter) don't see as many annual miles. I have yet to even use my Tacoma in the snow...sad I know. Too many vehicles (not sad).

Welp they wouldn't install 265/75s, they had in stock and would install 265/70s which is where I landed, and I'm thrilled, good decision.
