Anyone into Comic Books?

Anybody read or collect Comic books or Graphic Novels?

My nephew kinda got me into them here recently, I always had an interest, but just never got into them....I'm a nerd and like all the superhero movies and stories, so I figured what the hell, i'll give it a shot. I have always liked the Graphic Novels, i'm not into buyin single issues every week...but I picked a few classics recently...Marvel Infinity Gauntlet and War series..wanted to read the original stories...a couple of Batman and Avengers books and Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe....I gotta admit, i'm enjoying sitting back and reading some of these. I'm mainly reading them on my tablet...but there is something about holding the book and reading.

Anyone else? Any recommendations?....i'm looking to read some Wolverine, Punisher and GI Joe (that was my thing as a kid)

 

wish I had more time, i'm kind of a slowwwwwwww reader
i was a teen when they still used the paper/ink that had a distinct odor and weird ads all over the place... and they were 60c 75c a copy lol
do you have any of the vintage issues? '70s '80s or just the Masterworks volumes?

 

I don't really collect them...i've purchased a few Graphic novels though. I am mainly reading them digitally on my tablet through Comixology...great app affiliated with Amazon prime.

 

i did buy most of the Marvel DVDs/PDFs back about 10 years ago
the series "40 years of ......"
its not the same as holding the old issues in hand but some of those are pricey collectibles
and i like to see the old ads for the Atari 2600 and other old video game systems when those were all the rage

 

I just bought and read Batman Hush, Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe, and Inifinity gauntlet and war....I plan on getting the original Civil War series...can't decide if I just wanna get the one big book or all 7 issues.

 

I have read comic books on my tablet for a while now, and have recently got back into collecting. The comics I'm collecting now are key issues that I always wanted as a kid and other first appearances. The comics I buy for my collection are mostly graded so no reading them.

 

I have several boxes of comic books in the garage that I am waiting for my boy(9) to get old enough to appreciate. Some serious GEMs in there. I used to buy two copies of each comic. One to read, one to save. Ahhh being young..

 

I have some original paperback Spawn comics from when I was a kid. I think I had like, 1-40 or something like that. It's probably been at least 15yrs since I looked at them.

 

I was very into comics as a teenager, but I kind of fell out of it. I was a big Invincible guy back in the day. I remember the day I bought the first compendium, a massive tome of a book that had the first ~50 issues. I started reading it that night and had it finished by the next morning. I wasn't at the top of my game at school the next day on account of having gotten basically no sleep, but it was totally worth it . I also enjoyed Watchmen quite a lot. I've read my copy probably a dozen times and have also read the Before Watchmen series. They weren't great in general, but I very much enjoyed the Nite Owl series. Darwyn Cooke had such a great art style. I'm aware that they're more aimed at kids, but I have always loved the Pokemon Adventures manga. They're not really the most philosophical or deep books, but they're just good wholesome fun.

Comics did play a big role in my life for a while, though. I was never a very popular kid in school. I was and still am TERRIBLE at most sports. I was very socially awkward, I didn't have a ton of friends, I was the nerdy outcast kid. Comics were a great way to escape from the stress of the real world. I would come home from school and just sink hours into comic books. What an amazing medium.
