Hello everyone, I recently bought a 2006 Tacoma and I'm excited to get it cleaned up to its fullest potential. Yesterday I opened the gas door and it broke off on the hinges (this was only the second time I had opened the door). It was previously a Minnesota truck and definitely has some rust issues. I was wondering if I could buy the replacement piece I have circled or if I would have to replace the whole housing. I would also like to know how I remove these pieces. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

you have to drill the rivets out and buy a whole new gas door and have it repainted unfortunately. Very poor design by toyota

Some one parting one out here !

Depending where you live leave it off or get a locking gas cap .

I am good for breaking them off when they get frozen!!

The door is cheap around $30. Bought mine off Amazon from some seller in Texas. You can buy a rattle can of your paint code and clear. Total cost is about $80. Don’t bother buying the expensive rivets they require a large rivet gun no one carries. Drill out the old rivets and replace with stainless nut and bolt.

You need to oil those hinges at least once a year. You can feel when they start to tighten up -- signal that its time to oil it.

Thank you all for the comments and advice. I called the dealership I recently bought it from and they are going to take care of it for me. Definitely will be lubricating the new one so it doesn’t happen again.
