How does that work? Do you have to get close enough to connect via Bluetooth or do they use cellular data?

    Anyone using Browning Trail Cams?

My wife bought me a Wildgame Innovations camera about 5 years ago. It wouldn't even turn on straight out of the box, returned it and got a Moultrie M-80 I think. It was a good camera until the software went corrupt.

Wireless trail cameras are the ones you have to get within a certain range of them to get the pics, most cellular ones you have to pay a subscription to get data to them but they send pictures to you anywhere

Best? It's a crap shoot. I have two WGI's that I bought from Dicks during end of season sales. Both are two years old. Simple to set up, simple to use. Takes great day time pics. Night pics are OK. Both cameras with cards, were less than $100. I think either you get one that lasts for several years, or a POS from the get go. I figure if I get three years out of one. I got my moneys worth. Even though I'm on private land, things have a habit of "walking" away. Not gonna spend a lot of money for some douche phuctard to walk off with. Just my 2 cents....

I usually build my own lock box for my cameras. The box is lag bolted to the tree and then a cable goes around the tree. The cable is locked to the box so it would require a lot of effort to remove. The problem is when you switch cameras, you get to reengineer the box.

Bolt cutter and cordless Sawzall.....ask me how I know. What I have done, is taking to leaving a note inside stating, "Your picture has been taken by the camera you missed. All information has been forwarded to the landowner and authorities".

My stands and cameras are pretty much left alone. But I'm also the asshole the open carry's whether I'm scouting, hanging stands, checking cameras, taking a walk, or bowhunting.

I checked a camera last year (on public land) and someone had stolen my card but had left me $9. Not sure why he didn't just steal the camera...morals, I guess?

I buy moultries in the $60 range. They work for me. I never have had success with high price trail cameras.

To add to this...that camera is a WGI that has been on the same tree for 34 months, I've never taken it down. It takes damn good pics and has taken well over 20k.

I do have a Moultrie 880i (I think) that I got for Christmas in 2013. It has been in the woods since, with only battery changes. Been a damn good camera.

Couple years ago I found a tree stand and bait pile where we have sole permission to hunt. I called a deputy friend and ask him what I should do. He said take the stand down, it's yours. I didn't feel right doing that so I left a note in a plastic bag taped to a stob in the middle of the bait stating if the stand wasn't gone in 7 days it was mine. I came back 2 days later it was gone, note was gone and the guy left his dip in the sac.

I really wish I would have taken it down, left a note stating to call me and he could have it back with the deputies phone number.

I had to put a cable up over there last year because someone was going in doing donuts in the fields with a vehicle. I haven't told anybody I put a cable up hoping someone mentions a cable being up :D

    @StayinStock

I noticed some of your pics the deer are fairly close. Have you ever had any come up and nuzzle or lick the camera? When I have my Moultrie set to video, it's like the deer think it's a salt block. I have like a 1/2 hour of video of this spike just licking the hell out of the camera.

I haven't had them do that. Sometimes they get curious I guess and get really close to it and stare at it.
I once had a spider build a web in front of it at night, those were some great pics! But my dumbass deleted them.
This may be my favorite pic I've gotten so far.

Cool pic!! I had a caterpillar build a cocoon over the lens and sensor. Little bastard tripped like 2000 pics. I had the one camera set to video, vid starts, what the hell are those two little things in the frame. Well, it was a wolf spider that spent the next ten minutes running back and forth across the camera. Kinda freaks ya out the first time you watch it on a 22" monitor!

One more thing...I have a Tasco from Walmart, it takes crappy pics and has no battery life indicator (which is weird) but it's really cheap. I had one stolen last year, didn't piss me off too bad.
Here's a couple of pics from it. They seem really yellow for whatever reason.

I just moved my Tasco to a spot where I'm pretty sure it will get stolen. It's right next to a gravel road and this is on the other side of the road.
    20191028_101157.jpg
I checked it yesterday, had 4 different guys walk by it, no deer.
It's 40 yards from a parking lot so I expect it to be gone at any time. But that trail!
(Pic was taken in October but still looks the sam

I hear ya. That stuff draws attention, which draws hunters...but I really wanted to put a camera there. We'll see how long it stays. The real test is coming up, the second gun season starts Thursday.

I use a sharpie to mark my camera's with my info and the number of the Camera. So far I have Camera's #3, 4, 7, and 9.

Figure if anyone try's to take one they will wonder where 1,2,5,6 and 8 are. Have caught trespassers on the camera's and haven't lost one yet so it may just be working.
