That seems to be a valid approach on the official Toyota side, which is great. But not usually good in other spots, like OVT. LoL!

Little bit of this and a little bit of that but stock af.
How do you update your entune? Does it need to be done at the dealership?

No. Look at the website that @Shellshock linked on the last page. It includes all the instructions.

it’s a 5 minute job to do yourself. All you do is put the files on a usb stick and hit update on the head unit.

plus the dealer probably won’t know what you are talking about if you ask them to update the headunit or give you the run around like the do updating the ecu

I know there are many variations of the Entune constant reboot issue. Mine started with the iOS13 release. My fix with iPhone 11 Pro Max and iOS13 was related to the number of contacts on the iPhone. My fix on iPhone with iOS13... Settings>Bluetooth>the I in a circle to the right of (your Tacoma)>enable Show Notifications>enable Sync Contacts>enable Phone Favorites>enable Phone Recents>disable All Contacts. I hope this helps some of you, the constant rebooting of the head unit is absolutely maddening.

But DOESN'T include the latest firmwares. I have been to the dealer for an issue I've had and they have updated it to a higher version than on the webpage and than the previous version.

This is the issue I have been having - finally convinced them to replace the head unit - getting that done this Saturday:

I have this same rebooting issue and I complained to Apple about it. Apple we went so far as they installed a temporary profile on my iPhone (iOS 13.2.3) and collected logs of my phone trying to sync with the head unit. They collected comparative data of the head unit rebooting and of it acting normally. They said it's their fault in the iOS and a fix will be coming soon in the newest iOS update. No ETA however.

I find it understandable if the phone is freezing, locking up or dropping the call, but the head unit should never do that.

I have been having a similar, but not quite identical isue between my phone and headunit since I upgraded to iOS 13.

    iPhone 7-Plus @ iOS 13.2.3
2017 Off Road with navi, but not JBL Premium sound system
Per the headunit software info window, it claims I have the most current software on the headunit.

When I first start my truck, and try to connect my iPhone via bluetooth, it will connect. I selkect Audio-bluetooth, scroll / select until I get to the artist & album I want to listen to, then sleect the first song. The audio starts, but the display remains completely blank, doesn't display any info about the artist, album, song title,.... I have to restart the headunit, then it works perfectly.

Another issue I just noticed a couple days ago, is that in my Entune app on my phone, when the truck is on, and I manually fire up the Entune app and tell it to connect to my truck/headunit, it tries and tries, but then fails to connect. Granted, I have never, ever tried to use Entune from my phone, not have I ever used any of the Entune apps on the headunit. All I ever use is the navigation, and bluetooth audio to play songs from my phone. I don't even bother with the AM or FM radio functions on the headunit, because there are no stations anywhere near me worth listening to.

Any compatibility issues with navigation, direction, altimeter, etc?
Is it completely compatible? I want to get rid of mine so badly already.
