sortof stock. 6112/5160, pro wheels and a tune.
almost every plate bumper i see requires you to chop the lower half of your stock bumper cover off at the fog lights. Has anyone toyed with the idea of making a molded peice for each corner, so we don’t have to cut the bumper cover up?
i was thinking of those rear bumper caps that ecool sells, so why not do that for the front, so then it’s easy to trim that peice for the bumper, leaving the stock one intact. kinda get where i’m going?

Nope... You either want a plate bumper or you don't. If you don't want to cut it, get a slimline style bumper.

    Take a look at RCI:
    https://rcimetalworks.com/product/2016-tacoma-rear-bumper/

This is a long term wish for me, unless someone takes out my bumper first.

The drop on the hitch is a little far for my liking, but I think I would get over that easily enough.

Oof! I saw replacement bumper corners and the picture in my head went to the rear. I totally blew over the words: fog lights.

    Thanks!

SSO Slimline is on that long term wish list also.

Cutting up a new truck was what kept me from buying a plate bumper. There is a few bumpers that go all the way up to the headlights but they look like a Hannibal Lecture mask [IMG] VS[IMG] . What are your wants/needs from a bumper?

Not really sure what you’re asking either. The pic right above shows what it essentially looks like when you don’t cut the bumper and instead remove it. If you have to already remove it, why not cut it for a cleaner looking bumper.

Unless you want the semi-hidden type. They come with or without the extra bar and several companies make them.

    https://www.amazon.com/WARN-100044-Mounting-Kit/dp/B078Y2Q52K/ref=mp_s_a_1_20?keywords=tacoma%2Bbumper&qid=1575654698&sprefix=tacoma%2Bbu&sr=8-20&th=1&psc=1

As far as smart comments go, if your complaining about post #2 by @tacomarin, you probably need to lighten up. You do either want to cut it or not, depending what type you want.

A cover style such as @eCOOL1 makes would be pointless on the front unless you were looking to simply change the color. By the time a fab shop made something to just go in front, it would stick out far too much to look decent. You can’t just bolt a piece of flat steel with a couple bends and expect it to serve the purpose of a bumper.

This topic got brought up on the FB group awhile ago, but didn't get much traction. Options got thrown around, but all mainly focused on attaching it to the new bumper versus the mounting location of the old. You're looking for like 15-20% of a bumper, just that corner section...a sacrificial portion if you will. Cut that versus cutting the stock bumper, I'm assuming.

This. It would just make the front bumper more bulky anyways.

I get what your saying, but I think the variations and volume sold would make it a hard thing to build. The best thing you could do for this is to buy either a junk yard bumper to cut up, or buy a aftermarket OE style bumper, cut it and then have it painted.

There are more than a few dozen styles of front bumper that all require different cut lines.

I think op should buy an unpainted bumper on rock auto for $63, pay the $100 freight shipping cost, and cut that up. Then use color matched spray paint and paint it. No perfect but let’s him keep his factory bumper in one piece should he decide to go back.

If you don’t like the answers, maybe you should rephrase your questions.

Maybe you should call some fabrication companies and ask them since they are the ones that actually design and build bumpers.

Do a search for front bumpers as we have a complete front bumper thread from most of the manufacturers.

Isnt the purpose of a forum to communicate on shared interests. I had the same question which is how I found this thread. I haven't found a current thread with all or most of the front bumper manufacturers listed as mentioned above. I know it's like there but I have dug that deep.

@wolfman00 I'm glad you asked. I'm not a fan of cutting a perfectly good cosmetic bumper if I can keep from it. Realistically I would never put the cosmo bumper back on but I would like to get some coin for it. The C4 would work and look good if you did a bit of color matching to reduce the Lector look.

Checking "Search Title only" and "this forum only" should help you find whatever you are looking for, ya you might have to take 2-5 minutes to look through it but it's all there.

I have completely tranformed my truck based on all of the information on Tacomaworld without ever having to create a thread for it.

You might not start threads to ask questions, but dammit if you haven't started some to help others. One of my favorites...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/intro-to-fitting-35s-3-lifts.594309/

Guys, Joe is s very helpful member. Might seem like he's being unhelpful, but as a general rule (unwritten) here on TW, people will help you, after you help yourself. Do your best to search the forum for your solution. Once you get stuck, everyone here will be more than happy to help.

Another solution is to set your profile to female and use a sexy avatar photo... then guys will trip over themselves to help you. But they'll insist on meeting up for assisting you with a mod. ;)
