I found a good local deal on an 12” slim jl audio sub. It looks like the back wall has a support brace about 10-11” above the floor. I realize I will have to either build or buy a custom box. Does this leave enough room for the basket of a 12” sub to clear the notch for the back brace? Does anyone on here have a 12” and can confirm it will fit?

you didn't say what model you have or any specs, so refer to a JL 13TW-5's specs. i have a 13TW-5 in a sealed box in the back of my 3g DCSB. if you have the same or less depth it can work. if you are even a hair larger (deeper) than a 13TW-5 then i doubt it.

It is the 12tw3 I believe it is 3. 5/8” mounting depth. The 13tw-5 is about an inch less. So you are saving it is really close with the one you have?

    really REALLY close.

i have a @Mr Marv box built to 13TW-5 spec. when the rear seat is down there is about 1/8" clearance between the back of the seat and the driver's foam ring. if the seat isn't totally down it rubs. had to remove all the plastic bins to fit the box and was limited on how much dynamat i could put back there so the box could be as flush as possible against the cab's back wall.

but i think some of the audio pros around here can help you with more fitment detail than me.
