Got the dreaded P0171 code yesterday And have been dealing with fuel trim levels that were extremely high for two weeks.
So after getting all new vacuum lines and having the dealership try and find the issue with no answers I
decided it was time for a new fuel pump. The last pump failed at 300k and I’m at 605k now.
AFR numbers were getting leaner at full acceleration 13.5-14.5 and higher Long term trims +25 which indicates the engine is running lean and the ECU is trying to compensate.
Having a scanguage to monitor your fuel trims is a great tool to have.
One word of caution if you remove the bed to replace the fuel pump is to be careful with putting any weight on the rear quarter panels as there is no body support on these sections and the can buckle easily. Make sure the weight is supported from the center of the bed area.
So a P0171 code can be a failing fuel pump.
Took about 3-4 hours to do because the high pressure line didn’t want to come off.
    Finally got one side off.
The bed is definitely in the 250 pound range and the drivers side has to be raised very high to get
it over the filler tubes and installing the bed has to thread the filler tubes back in that specific area.

Looks like the life on a DENSO fuel pump is 300k.

So I discovered a cool option for my supercharger a few weeks ago.
The original 1st supercharger came with a nose support bracket that also had the idler pulley as part of it. The bracket supports the front end of the supercharger as it has 80 pounds of belt tension on it
and has 5 small bolts that hold the supercharger to the intake.

The idler pulley was updated and replaced with a dynamic tensioner and the nose bracket was discontinued. I found out that you can take this original bracket and cut the one side of it off
and it then becomes a nose bracket to support the supercharger with the dynamic tensioner at the same time.

So I found a used bracket from another member, had it cut and the top and bottom ends rounded and sand blasted.
Some 3 layers of paint and it fits perfectly.
Looks like an OEM part now

quick question, do you get a low rumble from low rpm and climbing up to a high rpm in a lower gear?

I’ve had the newer style tensioner on for years.
This is just the support bracket that I cut out from the old type tensioner to give the supercharger some nose support. It’s working great.

    Absolutely!!!!
I was going to do these but because the EGR pipe was not correct and needed to be custom made and that there was a chance the bottom collector might not fit perfectly and need welding I had a shop do it,
Plus the bung for the AFR

They told me THEY WILL NEVER DO ONE again

Said the instructions were worthless, Kit was missing hardware,
Bolts were missing, Exhaust manifold bolts were a job just to remove and get loose
without breaking, said it told easy 10 hours to do.

I’ve always wanted headers and this was one of my items on my list, but because of the expensive has always been the item on my list.

Damn that’s pretty wild man! When a shop is saying all that, I can’t image how a shade tree home mechanic would feel. Nice to finally have them in I bet, though. I’ve read they help the motor breath much easier with the S/C sucking so much air.

Well after all these years I finally found a headlight solution for the 7 x 6 my headlights.
The projector headlight mini h1 7.0.

The stock headlights suck no way to argue with that even the upgrade options are not that great.

Just finished doing this upgrade, 220.00 for the projectors and 75.00 for the glass and metal buckets.

    A world of difference,
The high beam is crazy strong and shoots super high
