No I only unplugged from dash cam. The dash cam is wired to the beige wire ( positive ) by mirror. This wire is hot only with vehicle running. The blue wire is always hot, not touched. The white is negative. The dash cam works great......... there is a power reducer - 12v ( by mirror ) to drop down of 5v that I double sided tape installed to black plastic behind mirror. The install is professional yet unprofessional results LOL.

Will cut the wires ( have some extra to re-splice back ) and remove step down power supply.

Anything else added? LED lights? Some have had issues when installing certain brand of LED replacement bulbs. Its hard to troubleshoot unless going back to stock, but that can be a pain in the ass.

Sounds like possible RF interference. Dash cams are notorious for generating it and they slap the FCC Part 15 stickers on them like candy. You may have luck with a ferrite choke.
Disconnect the dash cam and wait for it to power off completely (often 1 minute). Then try your fob. If it works you know it’s the camera. Technically the manufacturer has to solve a radio interference issue, but these are all ripped off IP made China junk so good luck with that.
Curious. Will the fob unlock the truck some time later?

The dash cam is wired so it has no power when Tacoma is shut off yet just unplugged power supply to unit, waited and still no remote lock.

With no power to step down or cam, I don’t see interference a factor.

This darn project not worth the effort.

    Thanking all again.

It can get frustrating trying to figure this stuff out. Took me a couple months of trial and error before I figured out what was causing my issues. At first, i thought it was cheap LED’s causing the issues, but then found it was my rear dash cam. Good luck. Maybe it is an actual problem with the keyfob receiver. Did you do the install yourself or third party? They may have disconnected a connector and forgot to reconnect. I read someone else had a problem like that and the dealer found an unplugged connector.

I did install myself. I have done many installs on vehicles in the past. This one is a PIA.........was so happy with install everything went well. The last thing to do was lock truck and walk away, DOUGH!

And yes I have installed led lights in various locations. Was not till dash cam installed and working that problem started.

    Best,

Well this AM I took the complete dash cam out with power reducer and same results no locking or unlocking. I did research dash cameras in vehicles and there is stories related to electromagnetic fields being generated by these cameras.

I am out of ideas. Will bring to dealer and see. I will post results. Thanking everyone for great ideas and possibilities.

I have no issues with my dash cam or locking etc. I didn’t tap into stuff in the headliner panel, I ran the power down the a pillar under the carpet and to the powered socket in the center console. Haven’t had any issues

I was trying to find the thread where the sensor got unplugged but cant seem to find it. Like i had mentioned previously, maybe you do indeed have a faulty sensor so it isn’t receiving any of the keyfob commands. Does your door handle work when you touch it to lock/unlock?

I have a manual transmission so no door touch unlock. The interior lock / unlock works which the key has to be on to function. Just the key lock / unlock is inoperative.

Have appointment with dealer. If this issue happened at exact time as my dash cam install I will be disappointed. Normally if something goes wrong it’s something you did.

    Thank you so much!

Good luck. I hope the dealer can sort it all out. Let us know what they find.

Well had appointment with dealer to fix locking / unlocking issue. Took dash cam totally out prior. The problem as per the dealer is inside dash cluster. They said did you see when starting Tacoma all the safety lights are not illuminated? I said no. They need to order part and replace. They informed they have seen this prior.

So this issue started the exact time I completed dash cam install. When done I will post final when working. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and insight. Merry Christmas

Conclusion: The dealer took eight days to find reason why key fob lock / unlock would not work. First they stated the instrumentation cluster had issue and was replaced. That did not solve problem. They were out of ideas why problem and had to speak with Toyota corporate direct. The issue finally found was inside fuse panel in cab. I was told when probe was placed in fuse box it made connection showing it was good. The dashboard was pulled apart. Everything appears to be working. I see no scratches and hear no squeaks. Thank god for warranty. Thanking all for advice. Merry Christmas to all.
