Nice truck. Quick question for you. I just got the same tires (KO2s and size) and noticed them a lot noisier than my takeoffs (ko2s 265/70/17). How is your road noise?

Thank you. I have no idea how quiet the stock tires are. Replaced my factory wheels/tires with 275/70/17 hankook dynapro at 10 miles. Comparing the two, the K02 is just a tad louder. Honestly, I don’t even notice the road noise. E

Do you have a 1" body lift on your taco?

16 or 17 refers to the wheel diameter. Obviously a 16" tire mounts on 16" wheel and same for a 17. The difference in the over all height is in the calculations. A 33x11.50x16 will be the same height as a 33x11.50x17. Reason being is that you are measuring the actual dimensions. Euro-metric tires started in the 60s and replaced the alpha numeric sizing of the 70s. This has essentially become the tire measurement standard across the globe. You have to do some simple math to determine the actual size of the tire. The first number in a 285/70R 17 represents the section width. It is 285mm from shoulder to shoulder. The section height or sidewall height is determined by the second number which is represented as a percentage of the section width. So to get the sidewall height you multiply the section width in this case 285mm by 70%. That gives you 199mm of side wall. Well that really doesn't do you a lot of good because the wheel diameter is measure in inches.

You can start all over with good old US measurements. Let's just take that 285 and divide it by 25.4 that will give us a section width in inches. You should get 11" of width. These numbers are nominal so we just round it. You then take that 11" and multiply it by 70%. That gives you 7.85 of sidewall. Well you need to double that since you have two and you might as well add your 17" wheel diameter and you end up with 32" of height. So your 285/70R 17 is really a 33x11x17. Switch that to a 285/70R 16 and you end up with a 32x11x16.

Just to confuse this even more. The difference in lift you get from a 17 vs a 16 is a half inch because your radius is 1/2 the diameter.

Too many good examples in this thread. Someone told me 285/75/17 would fit on stock suspension but that's obviously not the case

Just got some Nitto Ridge Grapplers and SCS Stealth 6's installed today, zero rubbing, except on the mudflaps which had to go bye bye.
