I just recently purchased an aluminum Moab 2.0 from CBI Offroad for my 2011 Tacoma. Before the bumper made it to my door, I had a few questions that I just could not find any straight answers to online. Granted, CBI's customer service is fantastic, but I just didn't feel like bugging them about something so small. So here we go!

How do the stock fog lights mount in to the cut outs on the bumper?

Here you can see an L bracket with slots cut in both the top and bottom. As simple as it is, this is what will mount your fog lights. In order to do this, you must remove what was previously used as the adjustment screw and replace it with the supplied hardware. It will now be the single mounting point for this light.

What kind of gap will I have once I install the bumper between the body and the bumper?

There will be a gap between the truck and the bumper. This will allow room for when your frame flexes. However, when mounting the bumper, the mounting holes that are cut, are big enough to allow ample adjustment when installing.

Once I got the bumper painted and it was ready to go on the truck, I originally was going nowhere fast. First you MUST remove the stock tow hook. Second, you MUST remove the useless frame extension thing. Not sure of the actual name of this piece. Below is a picture of it as well as the location of the bolt that you must remove in order to remove this extension from the vehicle.

Once this is off, installation is fairly easy. Took me far too long to figure this out, but once I did, things went smoothly. Below is a picture of bolt that will replace that useless extension thing that you just removed.

When I received the bumper, it also came with mounting brackets. The order in which you install the bumper and mounting brackets is very important. The brackets go on LAST. In order to do this with the least amount of frustration, don't tighten any of the nuts and bolts you have the bumper on the truck with yet. Get the brackets mounted to the truck, then install the bolts that will attach it to the bumper.

Once everything got tightened up and put together, my truck looked great. CBI makes a great product and I'd recommend it to anyone. Hopefully this helps somebody out in the future and saves them some of the frustration that I experienced.

They make a great product but they really need to include printed instructions with their products....I've ordered a front bumper, rear bumper, rock slider, and skids. They could have saved me hours of frustration by including instructions that would say the order of installation and what bolts go where. I'm pretty sure at this point if my underbody skids from them took a good hit it would do more damage to my truck than if they weren't there because of improper installation...I got extra bolts and I'd really like to know where they go..They aren't the best at answering emails either...

I called them 2x during business hours, never picked up. I emailed them 2x, messaged them on facebook and got 1 simple email reply back over a week later offering no help or instructions. There are no instructions online either asshat....:bananadead:

Surely the only way is a truck forum to ease your pain.

New to this forum - great forum by the way. Did you have to go buy L brackets or did they come with your hardware kit? I did not get L brackets with my hardware kit and the bracket they send (and the one per the installation instructions) does not work at all with my fog lights. CBI has been very responsive, but I agree their instructions are not great. They also didn't send me all the hardware or even all the parts that were supposed to come with the bumper. They were great at correcting and getting sent out and like there product. Thanks.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to thank you. I installed a winch today and it requires removing my Moab 2.0. I never woulda found the third bolt in the frame if it weren’t for your pictures. Everything went smooth after that. Thanks again.
