I installed a P&L in my tailgate yesterday, and am getting ready to put a topper on in the coming week. I ordered a snugtop rebel with the keyless pro lock, which I believe is a pop & lock??? I was wondering if there is any reason I couldn't just tap the topper P&L into the existing wiring for the tailgate P&L?? Anyone done this???

    Thanks!

I'd run 2 pairs of wires to the rear, have SNUGTOP lock in parallel with the Driver's Unlock (1st FOB press) and the tailgate to the Passenger Unlock. (2nd FOB press)

I currently have an interrupter switch in the cab so that the tailgate only unlocks when the switch is closed. i leave the switch open most of the time so I'm not wearing out the actuator by constantly locking and unlocking it when it's not necessary. I was hoping to tie the topper rear gate to the same switch which is why I wanted to run it all off of the one set of wires.

It would work, what size wire are you running to tailgate solenoid?

It's the wire that came with the P&L, I'm guessing 18 gauge, but not positive.

Since you have a disconnect switch and it's not like you'd be unlocking and locking many times an hour, I'd say your fine. You don't use the Tacoma as a delivery truck, right?

Exactly, and since my truck is an Access cab, I figured that the circuit should be able to handle it since it's the same rated circuit in a Double Cab which is opening 4 doors and 1 P&L vs my 2 doors and 2 P&Ls.
