After reading numerous threads about tire sizes, I decided to give 255/75/17 load C rated a try on my stock suspension. I did this for a couple of reasons, I'm not interested in lifting this 1 yr old truck, and while I did want to upsize and upgrade stock rubber, I didn't want to run huge/heavy tires.

After getting these mounted yesterday, I took a drive this morning to get a feel of them on snowy mountain fire roads. Least to say these are phenomenal compared to the stock Toyo A30s, but sort of expected due to the sbowflake symbol on the sidewalls. I didn't loose too much grip until a really packed down and icy section.

I'm pretty happy with my selection so far, they fit great, no rubbing observed during morning's trip, even with my mudflaps in place. Here are some pix for anyone interested:

Wondering how this fellow's rubber faired after nearly two years? Also love to know if his mileage or power changed when he made the switcharooni. The 255-70-17 are narrower and taller, but these tires weigh only 37 lbs according to the specs. Because of higher air pressure and less rolling friction, I would expect slightly more power and fuel economy.

Tires are fairing very well, first year of having them I was on dirt every other weekend or so, this last year not so much. No punctures, everything still looks good tread wise.
Although these are skinny and fairly light, you will observe a power loss, (I drive a manual FYI) this is from the fact that you're changing the gearing of the truck by running bigger radius on your wheels, but that's to be expected as you're running 1.5" bigger than stock tires.
MPG wise you will loose about 1 mile.

    Still like them though!

Interesting. When you use a tire size calculator and key in 265/65/17 which is stock for my 2014 sport, the diameter is 30.6 inches. When you do so for the 255/70/17, the diameter is 31.1 inches. That is only one-half an inch. Out of curiosity, some folks run 245/70/17. For this size, the diameter is 30.5 inches (almost identical to stock). Stock width is 10.4"versus 9.6" for the 245/70/17. How would you envision these when it comes to mileage and power? Would you consider running such a size?
