Did transmission cooler lines swap sides over the years?

I have done transmission flushes on a 1999 tacoma and a 1997 4runner and on both trucks i hooked the hose the the tranny cooler fitting on the drivers side of the radiator to drain it. When i was doing my new 2002 tacoma i did the same and i ended up with fluid all over the floor because it was coming out of what i thought was a return line but it ended up being the feed line. I was about to install a Magnefine inline filter on the tranny cooler line and thinking about this bothered me so i went and checked the 1999 tack and the 1997 4runner i did a few years ago and sure enough the Mangefine inline filters i installed on them have the fluid direction arrow the opposite way of this 2002 taco.

So either some previous owner installed new soft lines and got them confused when he routed them and they are flowing backwards though the tranny cooler. Or somewhere over the years Toyota changed which side of the cooler the feed line ran too. I guess it really dont matter but if it is wrong i would like to fix it because it seems backwards to me. Anyone know?

Well i guess they did switch sides over the years. I was looking at it today to see if some previous mechanic switched them by accident or something. But one of the hard lines coming off the trans has a slight bend it it and one is straight with the bent one being pointed at the drivers side of the truck which was the feed line. This bothers me because now i have to install the Magnefine filter i bought backwards of the way i normally do and i will probbaly get confused as to why i did it in the future thinking i put it on backwards.

5:18 in this video is the way im used to them being ran.
