    Oh My God.

I need this in my life.

    that is gorgeous.

edited to add: my Secret Santa actually sent me one of these. I held it in my arms and made noises at it like it was a newborn. my wife does not understand, and that's alright. I will make all the things now.

my wife has absconded with all of the packages delivered this season. she has also looked through them at my request to see if any arrived with any indication they're from a secret santa... mostly because I'm impatient.

so far I have at least two boxes.

I mean, I know where they are. it turns out she sucks at hiding stuff.
she thought she was being clever until I actually searched the house while she was at church

so here I am, I know where they are, they've been opened and re-taped, and I want to open them.

this is absurd. I'm in my 40's, i'm more mature than this.

I'm a voting and tax-paying adult and this anticipation is fucking killing me.

under the scowl of my adoring spouse and the excited gaze of three small boys I have successfully rescued my hostage packages

the first delivery was fairly torn from my hands, my secret santa has included my children and sent two Lego sets. They are delighted.
these items are no longer in my possession. I fear they are lost from me forever.

the seven year old has claimed the helicopter. there was a punch thrown, he has brothers and has learned well to fight for things that matter.

    the other delivery is...

at a glance, this thing is... in a word: comprehensive.

it has everything you'd find in a good trauma kit, and a good wilderness first responder kit, and a good car accident kit. and more.

let's see: triangular bandage, chest seal (like a smaller Hyfin seal), tourniquet, ace wrap, blood stopper bandage, 18-inch suture set, emergency blanket, chemlight buzzsaw, CPR mask, nasopharyngeal tube, (disclaimer: i know how to use all of this stuff), nitrile gloves, kerlix stuff/wrap gauze, medical tape, diphenhydramine, dramamine, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, BZK wipes, liquid skin, ammonia pads, alcohol pads, scalpel set, finger splint, I could go on.

OK, I'll go on. It has burncare gel pads, KT blister tape, forceps, surgical scissors, a high-quality digital thermometer, exam flashlight, sodium chloride flush/wash sets, 5x9 trauma pads, 4x4 and 2x2 pads for wound care, assorted bandaids (the nice fabric kind), tegaderm covers, povidone prep pads, ant-microbial wipes, sunscreen, lip balm, electrolyte tabs, antacids, and a fucking partridge in a pear tree.

    it. has. everything.

I'm pretty sure if I look hard enough I could find the fucking Lost Ark of the Covenant in there.

OK, so I looked and it's not actually in there.

    the case is shit-hot too.

It has a velcro panel that attaches using normal PALS webbing so you can tear it away in an instant and the interior has a small mesh zip pouch where you can put all the regular band aids and OTC meds for owies and scrapes. this kit is really very well thought-out and executed spectacularly. the construction and contents are near gold-standard quality in pre-packaged response care.

synopsis: this thing is the cats-pajamas, sitting in a bowl of cherries, with a bag of chips.

this is exactly what I wanted for my truck, this Christmas, for me and my family.

and to whoever you are, wherever you are... thank you very much.
your gifts are well-received and very thoughtful, you just got a big hug from three boys and a long-distance high-five from my wife.

    Merry Christmas

I'm gonna go play legos with my kids now

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I think I've got the longest wait from years ago. I received my gift in... March? April? Yes, it was custom. But I had zero communication with the guy and the custom work was mediocre at best. Another year was some time in mid-January.

The other few years have been great!
