I really don't intend this to sound mean. Really I don't. Did you read most of this thread? It's been discussed. The reason undercoat got a bad rap is zeibart tried spraying bed liner as an undercoat and what happened is that the stresses on the frame caused small voids to form behind the bed liner on the frame and then rust ran rampant. Everything looked great but behind the coating it was a rusted mess. I cannot stress enough how risky it is to spray something like linex as an undercoat.

I’m not a fan of Linex for anything, not even bed liner.

I bought a gallon of FF and after (hopefully) thoroughly washing my truck and letting it dry in the garage for a couple days, I started spraying the frame and undercarriage. Using a long hose on the gun, it's kind of like reverse liposuction! I've been at it for a couple hours, and I think I'm maybe half done, and I'm sure there are lots of places that I'll miss. I've used half the gallon at least, so I'll probably go until I run out.

My old SR5 had the toyota stuff done, and with regular washing, it stayed relatively rust free in the ten years I owned it. Hopefully this, and the toyota rust proofing, I should have a decent head start. I'm hoping to have this truck for a while.

How long do you keep your trucks is the real question?

Can you name a single manufacturer that offers a factory option even approaching this concept of a bed-linered frame? You cannot even order the exact list of presently available features you desire from Toyota, unless they happen to form part of a bundled trim. This would be a first in the automotive industry if offered.

VW does (or did do) an undercoat at the factory. The latest model VW I have is a 2003 Eurovan and it's rubber undercoated frame, then painted over at the factory. Works pretty good.

For sure there is rubber type coating, but not something like rhino-liner or LineX

2004 Mini Coopers had the same type of coating on the entire underside. It worked extremely well in preventing corrosion.

i did test the FF through the undercarriage power wash on my naked frame on the passenger side 6 or 7 times in October
it did not really seem to stick well and is mostly gone other than maybe a very light film with hints of flash rust from checking it today

perhaps if the paint is of good solid quality it could work?
i mean, you don't rustproof body panels annually do you until the paint chips or something like that

I just wish Toyota used whatever Ford uses. The Ford coating isn’t flawless, but it’s 3X better than whatever Toyota is doing.

Ya, I would never expect Krown, RustCheck or Fluid Film to be there after power washing. What i’m saying is that FF sticks a whole lot better than the others. Without power washing directly, FF will still be there in the spring, where as the other two will have washed off just from the snow/water/slush....My experience anyway....

Can confirm that my fluid filmed Tacoma frame still had a lot of FF on it this year when my undercoater sprayed woolwax on.

I purchased my truck brand new. Took delivery in Dec just before first snow and salt. I was able to get under and unload 8 cans of FF using the 360 hose I was also able to get inside the boxed areas and inside rockers, doors, tailgate etc. We had a wet salty winter. I only wash my vehicles in the winter when the forecast calls for 50 deg or more. Then as soon as spring hits and I know the salt is off the roads for good I douche the snot out of my vehicles. Power wash under and over, buff, polish, seal, etc. I can say that anytime I sprayed the frame the water just sheeted off all the way into spring. Even after heavy power wash in spring there was a thin layer of FF still there. Then this year I purchased the pro kit with all wands and emptied a gallon of WoolWax under and in. We will see how it compares next spring.

woolwax would be next on my list of trial and error product testing, but again I have never heard of it before TW came along.
    what does it look like?

i should test the FF with the 100psi air blaster, see what happens, if it stays put and creeps around, or just blows off everywhere

Anything that stays put usually means it dries out and long term it isn't as good as something like ff or rust check etc

I knew it had to be something different.. never had an issue with any of my Ford F150's rusting.

The Ford coating holds up really well. It’s a robust product even on gravel roads.
