I'm not supporting the original argument, but some people are starting with the SR and SR5, which is much less than the TRD's. Helps that 1/2 Raptor debate...

No matter what, you're not stuck with a Ford, so there's that.

Totally understand that, but then we’re even farther away from features that a Raptor offers. Sure, if you go entry level and just focus on power, disregarding everything else, then yes, you could get to the 50%, but you’d be comparing apples and pears.

Either way, it’s great that we have some FI options hitting the market in the very near future. I’m holding out for OVT TT’s personally.

The 2.7 ecoboost under the hood of a Tacoma would be fun as hell.

Couple things, you’re not going to get a loaded Raptor for $70K. Maybe decently equipped but it’s not loaded. Second, you’ll have a dealer premium on top of msrp in most parts of the country. My loaded ‘18 Raptor was $73,750 msrp and they haven’t gotten any cheaper. Which means OTD you’re well north of $80k.

Now, price aside, you would still be stuck with a shitty Ford. I hope you enjoy dealer visits because you’ll be there often if you get a Raptor. Those fancy options you get are nice, when they work. There’s something to be said about including shit that actually works even if it’s a little dated. I can’t think of a single tech option I had that didn’t have an issue at some point. When it works, it’s a blast to drive but I would take my Tacoma over my Raptor any day.

You can get a fully loaded Raptor in the mid to low 60s. Dealerships have been coming off the MSRP price for quite awhile. There are several dealerships that will sell a Raptor at invoice pricing. I have owned 3 Raptors in total.

I don’t disagree with your analysis in reference to problems and dealing with Ford for warranty work. Quite frankly, I don’t like dealing with any common manufacture for warranty work. Porsche, Lexus, and so on are always much easier to deal with. But not everyone has had problems with the Gen 2. I went to Baja in March with 10 Raptors and multiple Gen 2s ran the entire Baja peninsula problem free. It seems that when a new Raptor has a problem, there normally isn’t just one problem.

I would have the same sentiments as you if my truck was messed up as often as yours was. No one wants to pay money for something and it not be right. I know quite a few of people that couldn’t stand the 10 speed and so they sold it.

Please go back and re-read the post that you quoted. I never said "loaded".
