Christmas lights

The ones I put on my house last year seemed to have just ran off a normal plug.

 

I don't have 120v output on my truck

 

This is a great idea! I’m in.

 

Standard incandescent mini lights run about 0.4 watts per bulb, or 41 watts per string of 100. For safety purposes, budget 2 strings per 100 watts. I wouldn't recommend going over 100 watts unless you use inverters and dedicated wiring.

LED mini lights on the other hand consume 6 watts per 100-string.

 

Maybe these "Fairy" lights would work.

Or 3 amps per 100, I Already have a dedicated aux 12v switch/relay system so that wouldn't be a problem.

 

Yep, not shocking. You have Christmas lights and pulling your "sleigh" with your washing machine! You are the poster child for "that guy".

Grabbed some while I was at Lowe's. $3.98 for 100ct string (20ft.). Just one string per running board (wrapped of course). Starting to feel like Christmas!

 

Picked up 2 100ct boxes of sylvania stay-lit platinum led mini lights. Plugged right into the bed outlet. Bed lights are simply tucked under the bedcover. Used tape on the roof. It’s holding so far. Hopefully it doesn’t snow much tonight.

 

How did you get them to stay up where there wasn’t straps that you could tuck them under?

Are those white snap in clips I see?

 

Yeah, now the one who is trying to call someone out for being That Guy is being That Other Guy.

Separately --

I wouldn't run any christmas light strings that contained BLUE lights. Pretty much all other colors appear in various signalling, marking, & warning uses on all kinds of vehicles, but blue in most states is reserved exclusively for law enforcement use. (And for good reason.)

Three strands, one around the outside of the bed with zip-ties daisy-chained from the bed-rail tie downs, and then one strand up and around the roof rails, on a 6-foot extension cord to the bed outlet. I can still open and (carefully) close the tonneau and have full use of the bed. Little strip of double-sided tape wherever a light is touching glass or paint so it won't make noise or scratch it up, looks great and people get a kick out of it.

Different type of sleigh this year.

 

Threw mine on the other day, $6 from Wal-Mart for an LED strand that I run with the bed plug. I have been pulled for them in the past, seemed to be a sour night for that cop. They were on my old Honda and he claimed I was impersonating a law enforcement vehicle . Knock on wood, hasn't been an issue since.
