I bought and installed the OME 887 kit with heavy duty dakars for my 3rd gen tacoma, and am currently running on my stock 265s. From a side profile, there looks to be a slight rake up front. When running this setup, is it also necessary to install a leveling kit to clear 33” tires at full lock? Planning to get new tires soon, and just want to make sure i get everything set up before i get an alignment. Thanks!

You should be able to run them just fine, just depends what the dimensions of the wheel are that you go with. You say you are already nose high, so running a “leveling kit” on a pre existing lift would make it even worse since all they do is raise the front essentially. I don’t think people stack spacers on pre existing lifts on here, it would be no bueno.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m actually the opposite: the nose looks slightly lower. :) here’s what it looks like on the 265s:

It looks like you have significant rake in the rear, possibly 2” more. I would look at switching out your leaf pack since it doesn’t seem like you need it.

Your rake is coming from the HD Dakars. Those are meant for constant 660+ lbs of extra weight in the rear. People that run HD Dakars typically have a plate rear bumper with swingout, bed rack or cap, and maybe RTT. If you add a leveling kit to your 887's in the front, your cv axles are gonna have a horrible angle.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the clarifications guys! Who knows, someday i’ll probably end up carrying more weight in the back.

Did you ever end up going 285s? If you haven't I recommend it. I'm running a full OME kit with 886 springs and the heavy leaf pack and I dont rub. 295/70/17 with scs ray 10s with a -10 offset

I got a killer deal on some 285s from Americas tire. Makes all the difference. I did notice that when i’m backing out and turn to the right, my drivers side front tire rubs on the front side of the fender liner. Good thing is, no rub on the body so no need for a body chop. Looks badass, I was running 265/70/17 and it made my truck look like a big dude with small shoes lol. So I gave my nephew my 265 Kbro2s to put on his trd sport and went 285 kbro2s. Went with a 6 ply because our trucks are not heavy enough for the 10 ply and I dont crawl across rocks really.

Looks good. How are you liking the HD Dakars now that they're broken in? I had standard Dakars on my 2009 reg cab, they rode fantastic with a cap on the bed.

Thanks! I like em. Not too stiff. With the bigger tires, the rake isnt so pronounced either.

The only thing that should mess with the tech package is a rear bumper as the blind spot sensors won't work in a steel bumper.

That's the beauty of it, you get to do what you want since it's you're truck. Let me know if you need more info or what not. I'll answer as best I can.

I went with the 886 since I have a hybrid bumper, winch and dual ARB compressor under the hood. Didn't want the front to sag down
