Hi, the check engine light on my 2010 double cab just came on.. it’s saying bank 1 sensor 1 o2 sensor. I put the truck up on the rack and removed all 4 sensors to clean them.. they were all really clean, the truck has 135k on it now and this is first time lights ever came on. Do these sensors fail even if they’re really clean? I’d hate to spend 150$ on a sensor and it not fix issue. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks very much!

You could swap the bank 1 sensor with the bank 2 sensor and see if the code follows. If it does you do need a new sensor

edit: also I’ve not had to replace them on my tacoma yet, but I have on other vehicles with around 100k on them

Look for an exhaust leak. I had a similar, but different code, and replacing a couple gaskets fixed it.
Mine was P0420 if I recall; bank one cat efficiency.... And the culprit was the gasket connecting the cat to the Y pipe.

I had to replace a bad O2 sensor before the cat at 83,000 miles. So yes, it could fail and you will need to replace it. Got a Bosch one at Autozone and that fixed it.
