Does a warn m8000 have any drawbacks

Any issues or problems with warm m8000’s

 

I've had one on a TJ for twenty years. Solid winch. Keep the control box covered.

 

Ask enough people and I'm sure you'll find someone who's had a problem with one.

Warn is almost universally known as the "go to" brand for winches. Some say "doesn't matter what you get as long as it's a Warn".

The only "issue" you're likely to have with an 8000# winch simply has to do with its size. If you add up the max gross weight of a Tacoma and add 1.5x (minimum standard for winch sizing), you're not too far off from the 8000#.

If you want a little extra "oompf", go for a 10k winch, but other than that, the m8000 is perfectly fine.

 

During a recovery, I spooled the line up too much to one side and cracked the housing. My own fault, but the damn thing still worked enough for me to recover the rest of the way.

 

Warn winches are the best winches made and are very reliable

I've had a few Warn winches over the years and if I would ever get back into Rock crawling I wouldn't hesitate to get another , I've had a Warn 8274 and a Warn XD9000i

 

Yeah, that's sometimes difficult if not impossible to avoid. You can't always stop mid recovery and re-spool the cable.

 

This was one of those if I let off, I'd be right back where I started. Or maybe worse.

 

Totally understandable. s**t happens. Your broken Warn still pulled you out. Awesome!

 

That it did. It sounded horrible, but got the job done.
