Screw in tire...ok just to patch?

    These are the stock tires from the dealership with 7k on them, it's ok just to patch it up?

    I bet they are going to say it is to close to the side wall of the tire and they can't fix it - that is what happened to me - pull it out it may not have gone through spray it see if it leaks

    Might not even have punctured the tire...The wife had a screw in her tire, went to get it repaired and it wasn't all the way through the tire, so removed the screw and went on her way. I had a screw in my Jeep tire awhile back and just left it in there...never lost air or anything. Might not have been through the tire either.
    Are you losing air, or is it same as usual?

    Looks more like a screw. Maybe it's identifying as a nail?

    Should plug up just fine as long as you didn't run low on air in that tire at speed and grind away the sidewall from the inside. Is it losing air?

    It is Phillips! Just grab a screw driver and pull it out... and keep driving it ... it will be fine.

    Yea just unscrew it out, apply soapy liquid. If it leaks, plug it. No leak, gtg

    i had a nail in the same spot and they told me the same thing but they then did plug it anyway.

    Remove the screw.
    Spray soapy water on it.
    If it leaks plug it yourself.
    If it doesn't leak go on with your day.


    OR

    Use it as an excuse to get better tires

    Don't think a reputable company like Discount/Big O etc. would plug or patch that. Too close to the sidewall. They will more than likely want sell you a new tire or all 4 depending on wear.

    I have picked up two screws (that flattened my tires) in the last month. Not sure what is going on, since it has been years since I have had a flat. Les Schwab patched them both for free, though, just a PiA.

    Center console divider thingy, rubber bed mat and side steps for the wife.
    Tires have pretty good tread and the screw head is pretty small, good chance it never made it past the important parts. Spray some soapy liquid on it and see if it bubbles when you start to remove it, if not, good to go, if so, screw it back in and get to a tire store of choice.
