Just got a Bakflip G2 installed and was told that I would still be able to use my bed rails to keep stuff in the bed from moving, but this is not the case. Is there a kit or adapter that I can add so that I can add tie down points on the bed rail with this tonneau installed? Thanks!

Did you ever figure out a way to get rail access? I was thinking on getting the bak mx4 but I don’t like the idea of losing tie down points

The G2 anchors directly to the rails, so you lose all rail access. However, I spoke to the guys at CaliRaised and they say they have bed stiffeners that will fit under the bed rail and cover. So that could add some tie down spots!

Its my understanding that most low profile covers utilize the bed rails for mounts. Im looking at the undercover ultra flex or bakflip and this seems to be common case. Do you guys have the same understanding of these systems?

I have the MX4 and you dont lose the bed rail. It comes with brackets that lower the bed rails about 2 or 3 inches.

Thanks for the info. Did you install this yourself and if so was it difficult?

The bakflip G2 mounts directly to the side bed rails, and requires the bed rail closest to the back of the cab to be removed. So you will lose the ability to use the rails to tie things down once the cover is installed. I can't speak for the undercover flex though.

I had some help. Took about an hour or less to install. Only had trouble removing the screws for the bed rail prior to attaching lowering brackets. The screws were sort of seized up and kept stripping the screw heads. Everything worked out perfect in the end.

The Undercover flex also has new rails that sit inside the bedsides. These new rails sit just above the cargo tracks in the bed, and are clamped to the bedside via 3 clamps on each side.

So, with some careful planning, you could probably set some eye-bolt/t-nut tie-down points in the tracks before you mount the flex. Once the undercover flex rails are installed, you're not sliding any accessories into the cargo tracks without removing the clamps.

Another downside to consider is when the tonneau is removed or propped upright, the undercover rails intrude on the bed width by a couple inches on each side.

Last weekend I installed the G2. They supplied brackets which lower the tie down rails a few inches. I took my time and installed the cover in little over one hour. The instructions are so so. I did watch a video on Youtube, it was much more informative. I haven't installed the drain tubes yet. I've been studying on Ying the tubes and reducing the tube diameter so I can utilize the factory drain hole(s). I haven't measured the factory holes yet but they look small, not sure if my ide will work or not, may not even be a good idea to begin with.

I used one of these elbow adapters from Lowes, I think it was from the lawn irrigation section.
I then ran 1/2" or 3/8" (cant remember) reinforced tubing, which fit the threads perfectly.

I just installed my Gator EFX hard fold cover and my bed rails are no longer useful. Is there any way that I can use my rails still. I was thinking about the bed side Molle rack. But any other ideas will help. Thank you
