Fella's, you'll find a lot of threads here asking the same thing, so it's worth reading through a bunch of those. One thing to keep in mind however is that the amount of lift you have (assuming you're talking about suspension lift) doesn't technically affect the size tires you can run. That's because lift just determines where the truck sits at rest - the suspension (and wheels/tires) still cycle through the same range of motion as they go up and down.

Take a look at this article - it does a good job of laying out "what matters" as far as tire size goes, and what kind of modification (if any) you'll have to do to your 1st gen Tacoma in order to fit various size tires.

Shout if you've got questions after reading it.

What size tires fit my lifted Tacoma?

    265/75r16 is more like a 32" (31.9").

That said, as @turbodb said, there are numerous threads on this, even a whole sub-forum dedicated to wheels and tires, although you do get a lot of crosspollination from 3rd genners telling you that you need a cab mount chop...

You don't "need" ANY lift to fit even 35's. A lift just means it's less likely to rub when you're in the parking lot.

99% of the time, a 2.5-3" lift will get you a 33" tire all day long. But you'll still likely need the pinch weld mod, etc...

Just read up on the above post, and if you have a particular tire wheel you want, search for that wheel/tire and see what people have done to fit it.
