Truck is a 2002 trd version.
I was driving the truck on the road about 35 miles per hr and the truck stopped and the check engine light turn on. Took it to the mechanic and he replace one of the coil packs. Then after 2 weeks the truck did the same thing again randomly.

Yeah, we're gonna need more or better info here. Miles on truck, MT or AT, 4x4, the maintenance history/repair history, the actual code numbers from when the MIL is turned on, etc...
And I'm sure there's at least ten threads in the history here that will have your exact condition and the exact repair for it. So you could try searching here but I'm not holding my breath  so more info will help us help you :D

Just to make sure you don't introduce new problems, did the mechanic replace the coil pack with a genuine Denso like the other packs?

The Toyota has 196xxx miles and is a trd version. They replace the coil pack that we thought it was the problem and this is the code that the code reader was throwing.

Uhhhh yeahhhhh..... I noticed that too and didn't say anything cause I was just seeing who else would notice it:anonymous:

Good eye though. That certainly sounds amiss, definitely should be in closed loop by that temp.
Is it only a set temp that the ECU has to detect to go into closed loop or are there other factors involved? Kind of a noob question, thanks for the help. I'm finally digging more into fuel trims, etc and learning all that scanner end of things last few days. Boy have I been missing out on a lot of helpful info by not learning how the fuel trims work and the sensors and systems involved, etc.

I took it to the dealership and got charged 150 bucks for a diagnostic and the guy told me it needs the wire harness and the assistant igniter. Just the parts alone it’s about 700 bucks and labor about 1000. I feel like just taking this truck to the junk yard now.

Are you handy with a wrench? Might not be that hard of a DIY job but I haven't looked into what that entails specifically. Dealerships are not a good place to take our older trucks, dealers are for warranty work on new vehicles only IMO. Plus these days they don't work on older vehicles like our Tacomas as much and I wouldn't necessarily trust them to know what's best
I would get a quote from a local independent mechanic, now that you have a diagnosis. I'll bet it's at least half that or less.

Our local dealer had an hourly rate of $140 last time I checked which was awhile ago. Independent shops are usually considerably under that

Hell If your gonna take it to a junk yard post it for sale here if it isn’t too much. Too many people would gladly fix that before you scrap it for no good reason.
