So on my Tundra I had the Bolt lock system which uses your truck key. Very convenient indeed.
Fast forward just got my Tacoma and it is a push to start model . Bolt does not make locks for this. I have bought 2 lock set ups with matching keys for the hitch and trailer . None of them have a long enough hitch pin to go thru and lock on the truck.
What am I missing never ran into this in my life ?

I had a Masterlock one that looks like this corrode on me, which required the entire thing to be cut off. It was a pretty big pain in the ass.

To replace it, I bought this one, which I haven't had any issues with yet. It's way longer than you'd ever need, so it comes with rubber o-rings to keep it from rattling, and to take up the extra length. The seal on the cap seems to be tighter, so hopefully it will last longer.

Unfortunately my hitch and trailer locks keys don't match, but it beats not being able to remove the hitch ever.

I too have these locks. I have 2 of them. They've been on my truck for a year now in the rain, etc. The only thing in needed to do was spray a little of lubricant in them after a year and the locks were like brand new. I did just lose one of the covers for the keyhole which was my fault.
