    This video shows the basic premise on a lug nut. The guy uses an air hammer chisel, which you can also use, but I would prolly opt for a chisel and hammer until I got a good 'bite" on the bolt. I would also chisel on the outer circumference of the crank bolt as you will get more leverage there. Once you have a small flat chiseled out on the bolt, you can use a hefty punch and lay into it.

    I know Irwin makes a 19 MM Socket for damaged Bolts and Nuts That would be my First effort.

    I have never been a big fan of the starter method to much chance for interesting events

    This method has worked well for me also.
    I would not use a torch on the bolt. If you overheat the harmonic balancer (pulley) the rubber sandwiched in the balancer maybe damaged. This can cause the balancer to fail spectacularly.

    Small pipe wrench and cheater pipe. Don’t use some crappy mushed jaws junk. Get a 6” Rigid, use them all the time on damaged bolts

    I ground it down to a 19. Hammered the socket all the way on. Bumped the starter and it came loose. I still can't believe it's supposed to be a 19. I had to grind quite a bit off to get the 19 socket on.

    The 19mm socket didn't fit due to the damage and distortion.

    Good job getting it off. Just courious - has any one ever used valve grinding compound on the inside of the socket to make it grab better? I heard that using a little of it on a striping phillips screw head really helps the tip bite in.

    I've done that on the inside of a Harbor Freight crow's foot wrench to get a little more traction when the fit was less than perfect.
