    Hey Josh, how’s it going?
I have that shifter to Brandon this morning. Install is pretty straight-forward but I’d recommend a 2x4 and a rubber mallet to get the factory shifter off. They glue it on good

Well. That hurt like a sonuvabitch.

I broke some ribs and got some road rash sliding down the street on my side but I believe my passengers are 100% ok. I will share more after the investigation concludes.

Update: I had flown several tours that day, including 4 or 5 right before the accident flight occurred. About 3 minutes into the flight combing through 700' off the ground, I heard a faint bang. So faint I stopped talking and started listening intently asking myself if I had actually heard anything at all. Sometimes helicopters make weird, random noises. Not three seconds after the first bang I heard and felt a loud bang. The whole helicopter was shaking. It felt like going from smooth fresh asphalt to hitting a 2-inch curb to grooved, textured pavement. Best I can describe it. Anyway, the nose yawed to the left indicating a loss of engine power and the helicopter began descending. I immediately entered autorotation and lined us up to glide into the best landing spot I knew I could get to. I made the MAYDAY call and then briefed the passengers, letting them know we were making an unscheduled stop, reminded them how to open the doors, and urged them to stay calm. In the descent I noted lots and lots of heavy duty power lines criss-crossing the intersection I was heading to. Without engine power I climbed up 20-30 feet to avoid the highest of the lines, gently descended and waited for a gap in the power lines that I could fit through. There were lines crossing the street with every pole except one, I dove into the gap and under the next set of power lines. There was a yellow car and a blue truck on the street and as I flared the helicopter to land between then, the rotors clipped two small utility lines and pulled the helicopter over onto my side. My door was ripped off and I got some road rash. The utility line was broken when I hit it but it wrapped around the rotor head and when we reached the end of it's length it was pulled through the cab, hitting me and breaking two of my ribs before it broke away from the pole. It caused the helicopter to flip over onto the opposite side as we slid to a stop about 450' away from where we touched down. Once on the ground, I helped the passengers out, turned off the fuel and master battery switch, made sure the ship wasn't on fire, and then checked on the passengers to make sure they didn't need first aid. They were obviously shaken but looked otherwise ok. EMS showed up within a few minutes, ATC directed the crash fire rescue trucks right to us. I was bloody and my side hurt but my passengers were 100% ok! Physical recovery took about 3 months for my ribs to stop continuously hurting. They still hurt when I sneeze or if I move in certain ways but it is completely bearable.

A known manufacturer defect caused the whole accident.
