Hey guys, I’m in a bind...
I have 2005 Tacoma that has 207k miles and the head gasket blew out... this is a rebuilt engine that I replaced at 160k miles(rod bearing went out and bent the piston rod)

Anywho, head gasket blew out so I tore into it. I took it all down to the block... both heads came off. As I was inspecting the heads for warping, I noticed the journals that he cams sit in were really scored. 0C09F760-C9BD-4A5B-8298-21D4C8E71734.jpg

2 new heads later, new timing cover, oil pump, cams, new head boltsand timing chain, I finally was able to put it back together. CD757F8B-A84E-47E2-9393-B93DDE55DE99.jpg Took about 10hrs to put it back together. When I got it back together, and started it... it started gushing oil out of the head gasket. It is coming out in the valley between the two heads on the passenger side. 5E39DD2D-ABBD-4CDC-914A-8A5FE16E763F.jpg So I took it apart a second time and could not find a single thing wrong. So assuming it was possibly a torque issue we put it all back together even more carefully and tried starting it. Same problem same spot a second time. Anyone have some theories? I’ve already considered : faulty head gasket,
    not torqued right,
    wrong gasket,
    gasket not oriented properly

Where did you get your gaskets? I see new heads...are they truly flat? Where is this gushing oil ?
Oops see it's on the intake side..

We checked the new heads with a straight edge, no problem there. I got the gasket off RockAuto

I’d consider taking the heads to a machine shop to be checked. And maybe try oem gaskets and head bolts.

Seems odd that a new gasket and heads would bleed oil as much as you had. Something's not quite right there.
Unless there's a problem with the block...and no good will come from that.

Where did the needle bearing in the cam journal come from would be my question.

So that can bearing is the reason I bought new heads... the new heads have better cam bearings. So far I’m $1900 into the fix at least. Unless it’s a cracked block I don’t think it’s the block... or maybe I’m just hoping it’s not that. What are the possibilities the guide pin to Aline the head on the block is too tall or the hole it goes into on the head wasn’t milled out properly?

I would find where the oil pressure feed hole is in the head and examine that area of the head gasket.

I did look it over before I put it together the second time... however I’m pretty inexperienced when it comes to that so I showed it to 5 different people who have way more experience and asked them to check it out as well. There wasn’t a blemish on the gasket at all. That’s the weird thing... I’m loosing about a quart of oil in 15 seconds and when I took it apart the second time we could not find one thing wrong. I’m at a lose.

You're not going to "gush" oil from a head gasket for any reason. Someone probably left out a press-in or screw-in plug for a pressurized passage in the head.

Better pictures of the galley that’s suspect of leaking, both block and head pictures would help
