Yup. Especially if it’s reported to the vehicle’s history. and if they decline, go to sales to ask about trading it in. If they mention the accident (they likely will), take it right to the POC from the dealer service department/insurance rep and make em walk the plank. Simple form of checks and balances that can work in your favor. You’re the customer and they’re the ones who damaged your vehicle. Never forget that.

Check for bumper alignment. Insure clips and pins aren’t missing or broken

My Tacoma had a similar incident 2 months ago. A parent parked in a no parking area adjacent to the stall I was in and clipped my back right backing out. Most of the damage was to the bumper cap. My insurance took care of it and billed hers. It ended up being about 2K in damage. They replaced the bumper cap, tail light, re shot the R/R quarter, replaced the sticker, the clear chip guard, the black deflector at the bottom, and recalibrated the parking sensor. I also had a rental car for the week. It seemed a little overkill, but the truck only had like 2000 miles on it.
Id be inclined to take it to a shop of my choice to make sure it was done right. If the dealer holds that against you, you might want to find a new dealer; their employee damaged your car. If they behave like that why would you want to do business with them anyway?

Had a 1st gen hit at a dealer while being driven by an employee. Damage was right rear quarter and leaf spring hanger. They did all repairs and guaranteed the repair for life. The repaired quarter panel never rusted as badly as the rest of the truck.

This would be worth asking about. I'm not sure how the dealer insurance works. If it hits the trucks accident history, you may be better off not having them do anything. I've lost over 2k in value on my truck from hit and runs. One was a mirror, the other was a flare. I cashed the insurance checks and fixed them myself for about $300 total, pocketed about 500 left over from the checks. Thought myself pretty handy and clever. I didnt realize how much accidents hurt the value so basically I fukt myself. Should have just fixed the truck and never reported it

Jeezus, they rubbed the rear plastic bumper. Let the dealer take care of it. don’t waste your time trying to get D.V. You’ll just look like an ass hat for that small of damage...stay on the dealers good side it’ll benefit you in the long run.... You guys thinking you’ll get some huge pay check from a DV lol.

Chances are, they will fix it right. It’s an inconvenience at best, as long they give you a loaner I believe that’s about all you can ask for. Nothing special about the damage, cheap and easy fix.

While I agree with @GD_TRD about the “rubbed the bumper” part, IF they do turn it in to insurance and report it as an accident the dealer wont care and now your trade is worth significantly less... I’m just suggesting you protect yourself OP - ask them if it’s being reported.

I would take it to a body shop. Dealeship monkeys i trust about as far as i can throw them. Keep a keen eye on your tailgate and bumper alignment

i bet they tried to find the parts and fix it before even telling you it happened, that's why none talked to you till 5. I would ask to see under the bumper cover before they install the new one, it is surprisingly easy to stretch the holes in the bumper so that a new cover will never affix firmly.

I wouldn't let them touch the quarter panel unless it's for sure damaged, body shops love adding extra work to bump up the bill. It looks like a super minor 30 minute fix to me.
