The ride is good, not loud and they look good. I wish they had a little more aggressive sidewalls, but it would probably make them louder.

I wouldn’t say they rub like crazy. They don’t rub at all driving around town. The Trail Grappler is a really blocky tire so that doesn’t do it any favors. I will likely be doing a lift in the future because one of my favorite things to do in the truck is “high speed” running of dirt roads and that would certainly cause more severe rubbing.

To me, the way they look (and perform) is worth the slight headache.

Yeah the Nitto’s are quite blocky in their design. It is a mud terrain tire.

Im very happy with the drivability of the truck with these tires. The noise is hardly noticeable, But you are not joking about the fuel consumption. Wasn’t exactly a green vehicle before (16-17)mpg with the manual. Now i’m getting 14.5 if i’m lucky

Here are some more pictures of the Nitto Trail Grapplers. This is my first “off-road” vehicle so i’m not an expert on how close things should be but common sense tells me that my UCA will be a problem on rough stuff. The pictures with the vernier calipers are at full lock.

Any more updates? I’m getting serious about upgrading tires, so have been looking at mine closing and don’t see how I could fit 285/75 or even 255/85s without cutting the rear side of the body..maybe w/ an adjustable UCA, but that’s more $$ I don’t want to spend right now...

Honestly, I rub every time in reverse when i have passengers. Its rubbing on the fender well. It’s not so bad that i need to do something about it right away. I have no issues in the rear at all. I haven’t rubbed on the UCA but I haven’t done any serious off-roading yet.

I don’t know what’s going with others, but mine doesn’t rub anywhere. I removed the front mud flaps because it would barely rub when I would go up my driveway and it was only on the driver side.

Sounds like you have your heart set on 285's however currently I run 265/75/16 Toyo's on mine which is still slightly larger than your stock 265/70/16. Although not going to lie all these 285 photos are pretty sweet and I have thought about it a few times in the past.

Your gearing having a manual should impact it differently than if you had gotten an auto.

Totally off subject, but its sad how few trails and offroad options they have on Oahu. You would think someone would have built and OHV or something by now too.

Yes I totally agree. Funny because I just filled out my application permit for Kaena point. Even tho can’t do much there. Peacock flats is probably the one and only available.

Yeah its just a tease also but Poamoho Ridge Trail or Kuaokala Access Road used to be decent places to hit up. Not like the neighbor islands though.

I’ve got a 2” spacer level in the front. 285/75/16 is exactly what i want. I was going to get wheels with back spacing but I like my pro wheels. Glad to know it’ll work. What is the new set up? Let me guess kings lol?

Anyone have any issues running 285/75r16 on the TRD PRO wheels? I know most of the tires that size spec at minimum a 7.5 rim and the TRD PROs are 7

Depends on the tire brand and your alignment, but with my KO2's I rub very slightly on the UCA when reversing at full lock, which doesn't occur enough for me to care. The looks are worth it to me:

My 265/70/17's rub hard with my knock off sema wheels. 17x8 +5, just the mud flaps but I find my truck sits lower then most for whatever reason.
