    Hi all,

We'll be in the Crested Butte area in the week between Christmas and New Year. Looking for tips on where to go and what to see? Is there a trail or two that we can drive on for scenery with beautiful overlook (weather condition permitting)?

I am an experienced off road driver but my Tacoma is still stock. We just have basic recovery gears (recovery strap, tow strap, 4 traction boards).

Any suggestion welcome (places to eat, etc) as well. Many thanks!

A trail? No... you’ll be lucky if the paved roads are plowed enough to drive on

As far as Crested Butte there isn't a ton of options open, most BLM areas and National Forest Roads close either Dec 1st or Jan 1st. A nice drive to do it the road up Taylor Canyon to the town of Taylor. Or you can drive to Ohio City to Pitkin. Another option is heading a little west of Gunnison and checking out the Black Canyon system, specifically the Morrow Point Dam and the old railroad down in the canyon.

Ok thanks.. will hit these roads if they're open! I have run some CO trails like Engineer, Imogene etc. but they were in the summer. Maybe next summer I'll hit Red Cone. Thanks.
