I've looked just about everywhere. Im looking at 285/75/16 A/T tires for my truck but I don't want 10 ply. I just spent a crap ton of money on Kings, but I am resistant to putting 10 ply tires on a truck of this size. What do you have?

Whats wrong with 10 ply's? You're already upgrading to a much larger tire so the weight penalty is already in effect.

    Too few to list.
    At 285/75r16, there's nothing less than an E load. I believe only a 17" size has a 285 in C load.

Cooper ST Maxx are 10 ply but are not stiff have softer side wall than the AT3....

Perfect tire for the Tacoma if you off road....

A lot of ride quality is tire choice and the weight of the vehicle. You cannot fully compensate for too much unsprung weight with an off the shelf set shocks.

I agree on off road prowess, but the stiffness in ST MAXX is insane. Like driving on tires made of granite

I had these for a bit. Super quiet and smooth for a E range

When you have a bigger tire and you're driving off road and E rated tire has some solid benefits. Not sure why everyone is so hesitant to go E...

Surely, but off-roading does not constitute 10-ply tires. 10-ply is designed for heavier loads. My trucks weight is the same. Puncture resistance is negligible, so I don't see the need.

I have E rated LT265/75/16's on my Tacoma and see no downside to E rated tires. The drive home from the tire store was stiff, but when I lowered the air down to about 35 PSI instead of 50 PSI they now ride no different than the P series tires they replaced. If you find the ride of E rated tires objectionable you have too much air in them. Even though they are 15 lbs each heavier my fuel mileage is exactly the same as before.

I also have E rated LT 275/70/18's on my F150. Ride and fuel mileage is no different than the P rated 275/65/18's that came on that truck.

Going to C rated tires is a mistake. They are rated to carry LESS weight than the P rated tires that came from the factory. They are designed with light weight SUV's like Wranglers in mind that don't haul or tow any real weight.

The weight and E rating aren't the problem. Anytime you go to a more aggressive tread ride quality and MPG's suffer. If you want aggressive tires E rating is the only way to go. If you can stay with a less aggressive AT type tire then you get the benefits of a tougher E rated tire without the negatives.

    FALSE.

The tougher tire is the only reason to go with E rated tires. I've damaged too many P rated tires to the point where they couldn't be repaired and I had to buy a new tire. A tougher E rated tire would have survived. It is cheaper in the long run to buy 4 E rated tires than buy 4 P, or C rated tires and have to start replacing them

And I don't do any hard core off road driving. Most of my tire damage has come on rougher Forest Service type roads.

I'll NEVER go back to another P rated tire

It is a lot of money, but I got them in a group buy and the cost delta from the OME/5100 setup wasn't as bad as you might think if you factor out the UCAs.

What does this mean? No issues based on what? It's not debatable that a LT tire rides different than a passenger tire. If this was not the case, we would run LT tires on all vehicles.
